'Dhoom' director Sanjay Gadhvi, 57, dies due to heart attack
Sanjay Gadhvi was the director of 'Dhoom' and 'Dhoom 2'. He died due to a heart attack at the age of 57.
Filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi died on Sunday, November 19. Sources reveal that he had a heart attack. Sanjay is known for directing 'Dhoom' and 'Dhoom 2', both of which were a huge success starring Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead. He was 56 and was about to turn 57 three days later, on November 22. He is survived by his wife Gina and two daughters.
According to his friends, a few days ago, he had gone to a multiplex to watch movies. Sanjay is also the director of 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai' and Imran Khan-starrer 'Kidnap'. In 2012, he directed 'Ajab Gazabb Love' and 'Operation Parindey' in 2020.
Sanjay Gadhvi made his directorial debut with 'Tere Liye' in 2000 which went unnoticed. The film was earlier titled 'Tu Hi Bataa' with Arjun Rampal and Raveena Tandon in the lead. However, the film was stalled due to low budget. He first gained attention when he directed the action thriller 'Dhoom' in 2004.
Filmmaker Kunal Kohli mourned his death on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "This is beyond shocking. #SanjayGadhvi RIP never thought I’d have to write your obituary. Shared an office for many years at YRF, lunch dubbas, discussions. Will miss you my friend. This is too hard to accept (sic)."
The X handle of Yash Raj Films shared a photo of the last filmmaker and wrote, "The magic he created on screen will be cherished forever. May his soul rest in peace. #SanjayGadhvi (sic)."
Ameesha Patel shared a photo with Gadhvi and wrote, "My good friend SANJAY —- just gone tooo dam soon !! Endless dreams left unfulfilled n soo much untapped talent !! Will miss our endless chats on my office terrace with ur wit n knowledge! Always there for me in one phone call! Missed working with u in 2 films n yet we became such good friends n u always gave me such sound advise !! RIP my friend !! U surely deserved soooo much more (sic)."
John Abraham also mourned his death and wrote, "Remember the times I spent with you on the film closest to my heart #Dhoom. May the angels always ride with you. Rest in peace Sanjay Gadhvi (sic)."
Celine Jaitly shared a chat she shared with Sanjay last year on her birthday and wrote, "When we chatted last year on my birthday I did not know this would be the last wonderful wish from you dearest @SanjayGadhvi4. Thank you for all the positivity you brought to my life. You left us all in utter and complete shock. Rest in peace my friend. I will always keep your guidance and wishes close to my heart. #sanjaygadhvi (sic)."
