What can I say? This movie is simply one of the greatest films ever produced. It is perfect, Keaton captures the Civil War in a way that no film, to this date, March 27th, 2000, has rivaled. Buster Keaton was a genius. He still is a genius. I say this because his style of comedy and his films will NEVER go out of style. They are so timeless and funny that if you pass them up because they are "old", you don't know what you're missing. I am a huge Buster Keaton fan myself, and have seen, (and own) almost every film he ever made! It's Funny, once I was turned on to the genius of Buster Keaton, I could never get through a Chaplin film. They just seemed so slow and boring -- so unoriginal compared to Keaton's, that I turned them off. If you come across a Keaton film in your local video store or library, don't pass it up. If you do, you don't know what your missing! Other great Keaton Films are, Sherlock Jr. (1924), Our Hospitality (1923), Seven Chances (1925), Steamboat Bill, Jr. (1928), and Go West (1925), just to name a few!

  • One of the best!

This is one of my favorite films from the old Keystone studio. It has action and comedy but most of all, SPEED AND THRILLS. It's a fast moving, fun romp through 1915 southern California, with a stunning climax on a bridge. (Well, at least stunning for the time). If you want to see a Keystone comedy from the 1910's, this should be it! You can only get it one one video, (as far as I know). It's on a video called the "Keystone Cops", one of the volumes in a series called "Hollywood Gold" I Found it in a Suncoast Video, and a Sam Goody so I guess it could turn up in any video store. So look around!

  • This is a great film!

This is a movie about the old silent movie days in Hollywood and I think one of the best movies about the subject. Don Ameche and Alice Faye are terrific. But in my opinion the real treat is watching Buster Keaton perform his unforgettable slapstick for the first scene in the movie studio, and the recreation of an old Mack Sennett style comedy. (Which was supervised by Mack himself.) This is a great movie for silent film buffs... and anyone for that matter. But unfortunately you can't get it on video, but it's on T.V every once in a while so try and catch it. Chio!
