Another strong episode with a very effective cameo

The Jennings investigate entomological warfare tactics whilst Oleg looks into market corruption within the Soviet Union.

This is a strong episode that looks at dodgy dealings on both sides of the Cold War that impact on the Soviet people. I found it pretty compelling, particularly one sequence where the camera focuses on a particular individual in Moscow.

I wondered where the series was going to go after the first few strategic missions. However, I have to say that the grain harvest might not sound quite as sensationalist as military secrets and biological weapons, but considering that it's something that purposely targets civilians, I find it equally as horrifying a concept. If not more so.

All the scenes in Russia were strong and subtitled dialogue does not bother me as it did the previous reviewer who wants the whole world to speak English! That being said the best part involved no dialogue at all when the camera does one brilliant reveal of a certain character (who we know) shopping amongst empty supermarket shelves. Very cleverly done and whether intentional or not it puts a human face to plight of citizens living in the Soviet Union.

The scenes in Yugoslavia were pretty suspenseful and this journey continues to intrigue. I was also compelled by the scenes involving Phillip and Elizabeth and of course Paige.

All visuals are as strong as ever, with great cinematography, editing, use of music and the performances of all cast are great as ever.

    Another very solid episode

Always makes me laugh when people complain about subtitles in tv shows and movies! Are they not smart enough to read them?!!

Hasn't been as actioned packed as the first few seasons but the intrigue has made it more than worthwhile To me the acting has gotten better as the show has been going.

    What is happening???

The series is far too complicated. The first couple of seasons took a bit to get used to with subtitles and introduction of characters but it was action packed. Following the relationships was intriguing and the tension was what drew me to the series. The last season and the first couple of episodes this year are just complicated to follow. Who are half these people and what is their story line? It is also time to stop the subtitles. It was different in the first couple of seasons but it can be done in English. Do the first few words in Russian and like in "Hunt for Red October", merge into English. It does not add to the story line any more.

Midges are small flying insects that damage crops by eating their leaves and shoots.
    • Goofs
When Oleg goes to the grocery store to inspect wrongdoings, there is a Stalin picture hanging in the manager's office wall. Shortly after Stalin's death in 1953, the Communist Party started what historians now call the destalinization process to erase the legacy of the long time Soviet leader. Thus, it would be impossible to have a Stalin portrait hanging at the wall of a state-owned grocery store in 1984.
