The character of Edna Dixon is based upon real-life Los Angeles Police Commissioner Marguerite P. Justice. She is credited in an end placard as "the first and ONLY woman commissioner".

Goofs
Commissioner Dixon asks about a car turning at a red light and Malloy says it came to a full stop first. As they were behind the car, the red light should have stopped them as well, but they never slow down and continue as though the light was green.

Riding Along With The Police Commissioner

(*Officer Malloy quote*) - "Our passenger's waiting."

Sergeant MacDonald puts Officers Reed and Malloy on special assignment where they tour around with the new woman police commissioner, Mrs. Dixon.

Officer Reed explains the ins and outs of the job as Officer Malloy drives around to all of the trouble spots where burglaries and drug dealings often occur.
