    Authentic and unpretentious

Of course, the most authentic way to film a documentary is to engage the person whose condition is the subject of the film. Tick - this was done well, and John filmed a LOT himself, despite my initial suspicion that his sister will do more filming.

There must have been some editing but this was also done very well and did not detract from showing the inner world of those who live with mental illness.

For me as someone working in mental health support and therapy a little bit more content about most common treatments and their results would help but I know the focus was more on the awareness. I hope more films like this will be possible on other mental health problems!

    Congratulations and well done!

    A break with reality

This is a video documentary. It details the life of a man living with paranoid schizophrenia. He and his family record and analyze the experience of managing this disorder. Reality is _the_ entertainment of the moment and nothing is as watchable in this new order as someone documenting their own break with reality. My significant other became physically ill watching this film, it is that powerful (and that traumatic). Perhaps the most troubling aspect of the movie is that John's paranoias are based in reality, that his real trouble is not that he imagines things, but instead that he doesn't know how to deal with the negative thoughts that are a part of daily living.
