Nancy Drew Director Reveals Touching Moment Cut From Series Finale
Image
Nancy Drew director Amanda Row has recently discussed what was cut from the series' final episode.

Row spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how the series ended. Row, who directed the final episode, revealed that a lot of footage shot for the crucial scene in the series where Kennedy McCann's Nancy and Alex Saxon's Ace chose to spend their last life together had a lot of it left on the cutting room floor. The director said, "The Ace and Nancy scene, which I made as long as I possibly could because I loved it, we couldn't fit it all into the episode otherwise it would be an hour-and-a-half long."

Nancy Drew Series Finale Seemingly Confirms a Popular Fan Theory
Image
The following contains spoilers for Nancy Drew Season 4, Episode 13, "The Light Between Lives," which aired on The CW on Aug. 23, 2023.

Nancy Drew strongly hinted at a popular fan theory regarding Ace's last name being true in the series finale of The CW mystery drama series.

One of the final shots of "The Light Between Lives," the sixty-second and final episode of Nancy Drew, shows a carving of the Drew Crew's initials, including an "A.H." for Ace (Alex Saxon). This is the first time in the series' history that Ace's last name was revealed, even if it was only the first letter. While the series concluded without revealing Ace's full last name, the creative team deciding to have it start with an "H" strongly implies that they were aware of the popular fan theory about Ace secretly being one of The Hardy Boys. While Nancy Drew executive producer Larry Teng...

Nancy and Ace end up together in the series finale of Nancy Drew, acknowledging that they can't be apart. No offense, Tristan, but nope. You are not our girl’s endgame. At least, you better not be! Nancy Drew EP Melinda Hsu Taylor Discusses Bringing That ‘Wonderful, Inclusive’ Seder to the Screen in Directorial Debut
Image
Throughout its four-season run on The CW, Nancy Drew has consistently done several things very well, including but not limited to ghost stories, gripping mysteries and stunning heads of hair.

The show’s Aug. 9 epiode, which also marked co-showrunner Melinda Hsu Taylor’s directorial debut, zeroed in on two more things the show has always done well, with Ace’s family hosting a beautiful, authentic (and occasionally chaotic) seder dinner at The Claw, with much of the meaning and tradition being conveyed through American Sign Language (Asl).

Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 9 Review: The Memory of the Stolen Soul
Riley Smith, Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Maddison Jaizani, and Kennedy McMann in Nancy Drew (2019)
Once a Keeper, always a Keeper. And Bess was a keeper in every sense of the word on Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 9.

This installment had so much exposition that it was difficult to keep up. I know the series is coming to an end, but they really packed a lot of plot into this hour, and my head is swimming trying to figure it all out.

But first, let's give kudos to Maddison Jaizani. If Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 7 was "action hero" Nick's time to shine, then this was Bess' and Jaizani made sure Bess' courage and passion shone brilliantly.

When Carly and the Family For Truth in History tried to silence Bess with a slew of ridiculous charges, she could have rolled over and taken the plea deal, as George encouraged her to do.

In part, that seemed out of character for George, but I suppose she was trying to protect her friend.

‘Nancy Drew’: Kennedy McMann Previews How Nace Will Handle Their Cursed Romance
Image
Curses, indeed! As Nancy Drew fans know, our favorite gumshoe (Kennedy McMann) and Ace (Alex Saxon) — her buddy-turned-bf for a hot second — are doomed to never be together again. Should they act on their feelings, they will be the last ones Ace ever has before perishing, thanks to a Horseshoe Bay hag who hexed Nancy at the end of last season. Of course, curses were meant to be broken and #Nace is too hot to just smolder for this fourth and final season, so we have a sneaking suspicion these two will figure out how to get around the evil spell. It won’t be easy, though. Especially now that Nancy is poised to drop this bombshell on the guy she’s ghosted for the past few months. On top of that, La Drew is about to get pretty toxic while helping pal George (Leah Lewis) crack the mystery of her poisoned boss.

Nancy Drew Season 4 Trailer: Final Outing Takes A Terrifying Turn With Ghosts & Demons
Image
The trailer for Nancy Drew's final season takes a scary turn with ghosts, spiders, and even demons. The CW announced in October 2022 that Nancy Drew would end with season 4. Along with the announcement, showrunners Noga Landau and Melinda Hsu Taylor promised those that had followed the series that the last outing would be "a worthy and resonant payoff" for the supernatural drama that stars Kennedy McMann, Leah Lewis, Maddison Jaizani, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Riley Smith, and Scott Wolf.

Released by The CW, a new trailer for Nancy Drew season 4, which debuts on May 31 on The CW, looks to make good on that promise. Check out the trailer below:

The trailer leans into Nancy Drew's horror aspects, with giant spiders, spooky ghosts, and demons. The adaptation still maintains its sunny presentation and humor otherwise, and the episodes will also be available to stream the next day on The CW's app.

Nancy Drew Season 4 Will Be CW Show's Last, Won't Return For Season 5
Image
The upcoming Nancy Drew season 4 will officially be the mystery series' last. Based on the famed series of novels, the CW Network’s Nancy Drew television series debuted in 2019 and saw Kennedy McMann taking on the role of the iconic young detective. The dynamic show also saw re-imagined versions of book characters such as Ace (Alex Saxon), George Fan (Leah Lewis), Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani), and Ned Nickerson (Tunji Kasim), plus the introductions of a small handful of new characters that were created for the series.

Although Nancy Drew season 1 was met with rocky criticism and mixed reviews, the CW series quickly grew a passionate fan following thanks to its elaborately plotted mysteries combined with Stephen King-esque ghosts and an overall darker edge that had never-before been explored in the Nancy Drew franchise. Following its second and third seasons, The CW Network confirmed that season 4 of the hit mystery...

The teen mystery drama premiered in 2019 and follows Nancy (Kennedy McMann) as she solves mysteries — both earthbound and supernatural — in her haunted hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine. Scott Wolf, Leah Lewis, Maddison Jaizani, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon and Riley Smith also star.

Noga Landau and Melinda Hsu Taylor serve showrunners, and executive produce alongside Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, Lis Rowinski, Alex Taub, Larry Teng and S. Lily Hui. CBS Studios produces in association with Schwartz and Savage’s Fake Empire.

“We are so honored and proud to have brought Nancy Drew’s iconic determination, individuality and resilience to life in a years-long collaboration with incredible creative talents in front of the camera, behind the scenes and among our studio and network partners,” said Landau and Taylor said in a statement.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Season 3 finale of Nancy Drew, “The Ransom of the Forsaken Soul.” So unless you are caught up, go hide behind the veil that protects Horseshoe Bay from Temperance’s evil plan.] The end of the world as Nancy (Kennedy McMann) knows it was averted, thanks to some crafty Scooby-squad assistance. But just because our gumshoe was able to vanquish soul-stealing witchypoo Temperance Hudson (Olivia Taylor-Dudley), that doesn’t mean her world wasn’t completely upended in the process. The Copperhead may have been stealing hearts all season, but this finale twist ripped ours right out of our chests. Nancy Drew Season 3 Episode 3 Review: The Testimony of the Executed Man
Riley Smith, Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Maddison Jaizani, and Kennedy McMann in Nancy Drew (2019)
The mystery of the Frozen Hearts Killer is far from over.

When the Drew Crew arrived at Detective Con on Nancy Drew Season 3 Episode 3, I figured they would crack a new case and get a tiny smidgen of information about the serial killer.

I was gobsmacked when Rodrick showed up behind Nancy, intent on killing her. The mark of a good mystery is when it throws in curveballs you do not expect.

Rodrick was a chilling man, and you could tell he wanted to kill Nancy. His arrest only raised more questions because he looked far too nervous about carrying out these murders alone.

Maybe the excitement of finally being in the same room as Nancy was taking over, but his warning about him being a part of something much bigger does not give me hope that this mystery is over.

We still have nine episodes of Nancy Drew Season...

How Nancy Drew’s Narrative Agility Sets the Show Apart
Riley Smith, Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Maddison Jaizani, and Kennedy McMann in Nancy Drew (2019)
Nancy Drew has always been a show that is constantly recalibrating its storytelling, whether that means tinkering with its supporting characters during its first season until the ensemble dynamics feel just right or remapping the arc of its second in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic that drastically altered its episode count.

Season 2 manages to not only seamlessly incorporate the threads of the previous season’s unfinished narratives but tie them firmly into the larger drama of Nancy’s quest to solve the mystery of her own identity. Yes, it did so by way of a dementor-esque monster that secretly hitches a ride onto Nancy’s body for the entire rest of the season in order to feed off her various emotional traumas, but that’s generally just the way this show rolls.

This is hardly the first time Nancy Drew has course-corrected or changed things up mid-stream in the...
