Isaac Kessler
- Actor
- Writer
Isaac Kessler might be a Canadian scooter-riding Jewish boy based in Los Angeles, but that shouldn't take away from the fact that he is also an award winning comedian, actor, improviser, teacher, basketballer, producer, writer, lover, and fighter. He is a multiple Canadian Comedy Award nominee most recently nominated as Best Male Improviser in 2015.
A lover of the digital screen AKA the boob tube, Isaac's TV credits include Man Seeking Woman (FX), Satisfaction (CTV) and a bunch of funny Canadian national commercials as well.
In the world of live comedy, Isaac performs regularly in Los Angeles showcasing his weird but dope (how the kids talk) characters at The Lyric Hyperion Theatre, The Second City, The Clubhouse, and a smorgasbord of other Hollywood haunts. You can also see him monthly in the improv/clown hybrid experience, Deep Squeeze, as part of the ground-breaking Wet The Hippo Collective by John Gilkey. Who knows, maybe you'll even recognize Isaac at The Pack Theater in the joyful chaos that is Speedface, or at the Lyric Hyperion Theatre creating absurdly awesome work under the eye of Dr. Brown AKA Phil Burgers.
But where did Isaac come from? Thanks for asking. For the last ten years, Isaac has been producing and performing with two of the hottest North American acts around.
As one half of improv/sketch sensation 2-MAN NO-SHOW, Isaac and Ken Hall have wowed audiences and critics at North America's top Comedy Festivals, and performed a full run at the 2010 Edinburgh Comedy Festival. 2-MAN NO-SHOW attack every stage with their signature hyperphysical, hilarious and fourth-wall-breaking "ClownProv"-style that is unlike anything you've ever experienced. They were nominated for two Canadian Comedy Awards as Best Improv Troupe and Best Comedic Show, as well as Toronto's Best Improv Troupe of 2013 & 2014 by NOW Magazine. Check them out every month at Bad Dog Theatre in their power packed duo show PARTY HARD HARD PARTY.
Isaac's second comedy mistress is the fabulous foursome, S&P -- Standards & Practices. S&P perform cutting edge longform improv comedy, and were selected as one of the top five improv troupes in North America by the acclaimed NYC Friars Comedy Club. They were invited to perform at the UCB Theatre in New York alongside four other amazing improv troupes.
Isaac studied Clown and Physical Theatre with the world-renowned Philippe Gaulier (mentor of Sacha Baron Cohen), Paola Coletto, John Gilkey (Cirque du Soleil), Dr. Brown (Philip Burgers), and Aitor Basauri of Spymonkey fame. He teaches improv at Second City and The Social Capital Theatre, and has produced workshops for some of North America's finest theatrical instructors. He has recently completed a 5-month Lecoq-based Physical Theatre Acting Conservatory in Los Angeles under the tutelage of the incredible Paola Coletto.
Isaac is managed by 3 Arts Entertainment and repped by Innovative Artists.
