Laurie did not begin taking acting classes until mid-life. After working for years in the corporate world in various financial positions, and then spending several years raising a family, Laurie gifted herself her first acting class for her 50th birthday, and was instantly smitten. Within 18 months of starting, she had earned her SAG-AFTRA eligibility.
