15 Celebrities Who Hated Their Biopics
Image
Biopics are really having a moment right now. While the genre itself is nothing new, biopics seem like an easy way not only to make a lot of money at the box office but to bring home a bunch of trophies during awards season. If you're lucky and/or have the right director at the helm, you can achieve both like with 2023's "Oppenheimer," which grossed close to $1 billion worldwide to become the highest-grossing biopic of all time and took home Best Picture at that year's Academy Awards.

It feels like Hollywood isn't going to let go of this trend anytime soon, and for notable figures who become the subjects of these movies, it's often a chance to have their accomplishments shared with a vast audience. But even if a biopic is largely complimentary, some people just don't like seeing their dirty laundry aired for the world to see.

10 Oscar-Winning Roles That Almost Went To A Different Actor
Image
Winning an Oscar can truly change the trajectory of an actor's career. Naturally, it isn't everything, and some performers do just fine without ever winning an Academy Award. However, taking home the trophy proves that an actor has earned the respect of their peers, and if they play their cards right and make smart business decisions, they can have a very bright future ahead of them.

Jennifer Lawrence became a Hollywood darling in large part thanks to her Best Actress win for "Silver Linings Playbook," and Halle Berry made history as the first Black woman to win the Best Actress statue for her work in "Monster's Ball." It's fascinating to consider what opportunities would've been in store for them had those iconic roles gone to somebody else, and that was almost the case. For those performers and many others, they weren't the first pick for their Oscar-winning roles. Someone else...

Sandra Bullock’s Oscar Controversy Was Stupid, but Denzel Washington’s 25-Year-Old Movie Has Aged Much Better Than ‘The Blind Side’
Image
The Blind Side is a biographical sports drama starring Sandra Bullock, which experienced a bit of resurgence in recent years. The film received critical acclaim and earned Bullock an Oscar win but became controversial because of some of its tropes and the complex real-life events that ensued after its release.

While the Bullock-led movie hasn’t aged well, the same cannot be said for a Denzel Washington movie from the same genre. Washington starred in the real-life inspired 2000 biographical sports drama film Remember the Titans. Although not as critically acclaimed as The Blind Side, the Washington-led film stands the test of time much better, and here is why.

Denzel Washington’s Remember the Titans aged much better than The Blind Side

Remember the Titans stars Denzel Washington as Herman Boone and is loosely based on the...

“They’re usually not appreciative of me”: Real Reason Why Sandra Bullock Feared Joining Controversial Movie That Julia Roberts Felt Uncomfortable Playing
Image
The 2009 biographical sports drama, The Blind Side, ended up working in Sandra Bullock’s favor. The actress who has been absolutely exceptional in all her performances won her first and only Academy Award to date. The film was the talk of the town when it was released. A story of acceptance and second chances, The Blind Side captivated the hearts of its audience and showed us that there really isn’t a bigger superpower than love.

However, Sandra Bullock had her fair share of doubts when it came to saying yes to the film. Why? Well, she simply couldn’t relate to the fictional family she was going to be a part of thanks to their conservative beliefs. She also admitted that she didn’t necessarily feel comfortable around “white, Southern, Christian, Republicans” as they are not appreciative of her,...

Does 'The Blind Side' Still Hold up After the Controversy?
Image
Quick Links The Plot of 'The Blind Side' The Real-World Consequences Behind 'The Blind Side' 'The Blind Side' Has a Less Than Inspirational Legacy

Inspirational sports movies are one of the most proven film genres. Take a down-on-their-luck athlete, stack the odds against them, and watch them persevere and make something of themselves. Bonus points if the movie is based on a true story. The Blind Side checked all these boxes when it hit theaters in 2009. Based on the 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, it told the true story of the Tuohy family, who took in teenager Michael Oher from the foster care system. The Tuohys turned Oher's life around, ultimately helping him make it into college to play football.

Sandra Bullock portrayed foster mother Leigh Anne Tuohy, winning Academy, Golden Globe, and SAG awards for the role. Critics didn't love the flick as a whole,...

Sandra Bullock’s Career Met a Devastating Blow When Her $309M Oscar Winning Movie Was Blamed for Enabling the ‘White Savior’ Trope
Image
A lot of criticism has existed against The Blind Side, a film that elevates Sandra Bullock to an Oscar-winning actress while perpetuating harmful connotations of white savior trope through the veil of a morally uplifting story. After seeing several dozen reports and complaints, most of which originated after the subject of the film began to speak out against it, it begs the question:

Do we really need a white family to drive in on their station wagon and save the day for a future NFL star? Could Michael Oher have accomplished nothing if not for the Tuohy family? Would he have accomplished everything in spite of them?

The Blind Side [Credit: Warner Bros. Pictures]

While there is no refuting the events that truly occurred and later inspired the sports biopic, the harmful stereotype that The Blind Side promotes takes away from Sandra Bullock’s award-winning performance, leaving a bitter aftertaste in its place instead.

Sandra Bullock Should Not Return Her Oscar But She Can’t Be Absolved of the ‘White Savior’ Narrative That Was Staring Her in the Face

I never quite understood the fan craze behind Sandra Bullock until I saw the 2009 rom-com The Proposal, starring Ryan Reynolds and one of the Golden Girls. Her comedic timing was impeccable and she could sing the heck out of Get Low by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz.

But what really solidified her case for me was The Blind Side which premiered later that year. Bullock’s star power was on the rise with her Oscar-winning role – as was my admiration for her magnetic screen presence and range as an actress. She soon became one of the few talents I have been on the lookout for ever since.

However, the 15-year-long girl crush abruptly screeched to a halt when the controversy broke about how The Blind Side wasn’t exactly a story of hope and determination and...

10 Great Movies That Saved Actors From Horrible Rotten Tomatoes Streaks

Rotten Tomatoes has been an authority on critical reviews since 1998. The review site offers both critical and audience ratings of movies and TV shows. Anything that has an average of 60% and over of positive reviews is certified fresh, while anything under 60% gets a splat.

Some actors like Nicolas Cage and Adam Sandler have had a horrible Rotten Tomatoes streak for years on end, only to break that streak with one good movie. Whether these performers star in these splats for the promise of a paycheck or because they genuinely thought they were good, their series of bad movies could have tanked their careers. Luckily, they were able to bounce back with a certified fresh movie that set them on a better path.

Sandra Bullock's The Blind Side Has Aged Badly & A Viral 2021 Hit Proves It
Image
In the decade and a half since its release, The Blind Side has not aged very well. The Blind Side is based on a true story that tells the supposedly true story of Michael Oher. Oher was an unhoused teenage boy who was later taken in by a family named the Tuohys. This family, who is white, takes in the then-teen Oher, who is Black, and fosters him before later adopting him. Now, Oher is better known for eventually becoming an NFL football player.

The Tuohys story was initially documented in the book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis. Development of a film adaptation swiftly followed, with The Blind Side movie coming out just three years after the books 2006 publication. The fact that the film is based on a true story was a huge part of its marketing, promising audiences an inspiring and incredible, real account.

Former NFL star Michael Oher, whose story inspired the Oscar-nominated film The Blind Side, has said he felt duped by his “adoptive” parents, who spun his personal story into a $8 million profit for themselves, while he claims to have received little to nothing.

Lily Collins' 10 Best Movies & TV Shows, Ranked

Lily Collins' career has evolved from small, supporting roles to lead parts in high-profile films and TV shows. Despite facing critical reception, Collins' performances in films like Tolkien and Mank have been well-regarded. Emily in Paris marks Collins' most significant TV role, showcasing her range as an actress in a major series.

She got her part in that film through her famous father, British musician Phil Collins, who famously composed the music for Tarzan.

Since working alongside her dad, Collins has come to step out into more central roles in recent years. After Tarzan, her next roles came a decade later, including parts in 90210 and The Blind Side. From there,...

Netflixs Trending Divisive $309M Biopic Is A Great Reminder To Watch Denzel Washingtons 24-Year-Old Sports Drama
Image
The Blind Side's resurgence is the perfect reminder to watch Remember the Titans, a superior sports drama that stars Denzel Washington. Remember the Titans focuses on team unity and tackles integration in 1971, though it's only loosely based on real-life events. Unlike The Blind Side, Remember the Titans avoids perpetuating a harmful white savior narrative.

The Blind Side, an incredibly divisive biopic from 2009, is trending on Netflix but the film's sudden resurgence is actually the perfect reminder to watch a superior sports drama that stars Denzel Washington. Written and directed by John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks), the controversial movie adapts a 2006 book of the same name in order to tell The Blind Side's true story of Michael Oher, an offensive lineman who grew up in the foster-care system. Despite a difficult home life with his biological mother, who's navigating substance-use disorder, Michael leaves his new placements to return home.

Image
Sandra Bullock starred as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side, now streaming on Netflix. Bullock won an Oscar for her role in The Blind Side, which is among her best movies, despite recent controversy. The Blind Side's true story is disputed, with Michael Oher filing a lawsuit claiming the Tuohys tricked him into agreeing to a conservatorship.

Sandra Bullock starred in The Blind Side in 2009, and almost 13 years later, it's available to stream on Netflix (coincidentally following a newfound controversy concerning The Blind Side's subjects). The Blind Side Controversy: Was Michael Oher's "True Story" Actually Fake?
Image
Michael Oher filed a lawsuit claiming that the depiction of his adoption in the movie "The Blind Side" was a lie and that the Tuohy family tricked him and profited off his name. The success of "The Blind Side" was partially due to its marketing as a true story, showcasing hope and determination, which appealed to audiences. A judge ruled to end the conservatorship held by the Tuohy family in September 2023.

Almost 14 years after the release of The Blind Side, Michael Oher came out with his side of the story, claiming that the movie, which was marketed as "based on a true story," was rooted in lies. The 2009 biographical sports drama was inspired by Michael Lewis' 2006 novel of the same name, which primarily focuses on the evolution of American football strategy but also touches on Oher's tale. Oher was a professional football tackle for eight seasons, having played for the Baltimore Ravens,...

Want to win Best Actress at the Oscars? Then play a real-life person
Image
Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress last year for “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” a dazzling fictional tale of a woman trying to save the multiverse. However, when we think of typical Best Actress winners, we do think of performers portraying real-life people. Sally Field in “Norma Rae” comes to mind, so, too, do Julia Roberts in “Erin Brockovich,” Sandra Bullock in “The Blind Side,” and Meryl Streep in “The Iron Lady.”

But is this an old-fashioned way of thinking? Or is it still a relevant metric with which to measure to potential Best Actress winners. Lily Gladstone portrays a real person in “Killers of the Flower Moon” but Emma Stone is the Oscar favorite for “Poor Things,” in which she plays a fictional character. So, let’s take a look a closer look at this category and what sort of roles Best Actress winners typically win for. Below is a...

‘The Blind Side’ Inspiration Michael Oher Demanded $15 Million Extortion Payment, Tuohys Claim In Court Filing
Image
Former football star Michael Oher tried to extort $15 million from Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, the couple said in a new court filing.

The Tuohys raised Oher and his story was the basis for the film The Blind Side, which generated $330 million at the box office in 2009 and has continued to earn revenue over the years.

Oher claims the Tuohys received millions for the film while he hadn’t received a single payment initially.

He filed a lawsuit on August 14 against the Tuohys because instead of adopting him, as they said they would, they established a conservatorship and kept millions of dollars from him.

The Tuohy and Alcon Entertainment, the film’s producer, disputed the claim and said that the only way for Oher to attend the University of Mississippi and play football was through the conservatorship.

On the court papers, the Tuohys claimed that the “conservatorship was the tool chosen to accomplish this goal.

New Documentary Blindsided Uncovers Michael Oher’s True Story: Watch Trailer
Image
After his name first graced the big screen in the The Blind Side, the real story of Michael Oher is told in the new documentary Blindsided, which has just debuted its first trailer ahead of its November 16th premiere.

Its plot centered around Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, a wealthy couple who adopt a foster child and help him become an NFL champion. It claimed to be based on a true story, one with an undoubtedly happy ending.

Then, in August 2023, Michael Oher filed a lawsuit against the Tuohys saying they actually never adopted him. Instead, he claimed his new “parents” created a conservatorship that granted them legal authority to make business deals in his name, subsequently raking in...

‘Blind Side’ Subject’s Conservatorship Terminated Amid Legal Fight Over Movie Profits
Image
A Tennessee judge has terminated the conservatorship of Michael Oher, a retired NFL player whose life story was chronicled in The Blind Side, under the Memphis couple at the center of the movie who allegedly took financial advantage of him.

Shelby County Probate Court Judge Kathleen Gomes on Friday ended the agreement reached in 2004 when Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy allegedly tricked Oher into signing documents that appointed them as his conservators rather than his adoptive parents. Under the conservatorship, Oher claimed, he has been deprived of the rights to his name, image and likeness on top of millions of dollars the family got for signing away the rights to the book the film is based on.

This includes a deal with 20th Century Studios giving the Tuohys and their two children $225,000 and 2.5 percent of all future net proceeds from the movie, which has grossed over $300 million, according to a court petition.

The Blind Side controversy: Michael Oher/Tuohy family conservatorship ends
Image
The conservatorship between former NFL tackle Michael Oher and Leigh Ann and Sean Tuohy – subjects of the 2009 Oscar-winning film The Blind Side – has ended. While this is just one move in the right direction for Michael Oher, the judge did not dismiss the case itself.

The case itself stems from Michael Oher claiming that the Tuohy family tricked him into signing paperwork that made Leigh Ann and Sean conservators, even though he says he was led to believe he would be legally adopted by the couple. Adding to this, Oher alleges that the Tuohys used this status as a way to ensure he could not be properly financially compensated for The Blind Side.

At the time, the filing stated, “Michael Oher discovered this lie to his chagrin and embarrassment in February of 2023, when he learned that the Conservatorship to which he consented on the basis that doing so would make...

Tennessee Judge Ends Conservatorship Between ‘The Blind Side’ Subject Michael Oher & The Tuohys
Image
Ties have officially been cut between Michael Oher and the Tuohys. A Tennessee judge Friday ended the conservatorship that previously allowed Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy to control the finances for the former NFL player, according to AP.

In his petition to the court, Oher alleged the couple tricked him into a conservatorship to secure legal authority over business deals in his name, depriving him of profits from the film The Blind Side while mischaracterizing the true nature of their relationship. Oher signed the agreement when he was 18 and living with the couple as he was being recruited by colleges.

Shelby County Probate Court Judge Kathleen Gomes said she was not dismissing the case. Oher has asked the Tuohys to provide a financial accounting of money that may have come to them as part of the agreement. He alleged the Tuohys used his name, image and likeness to make money...

Tuohy Family Conservatorship Over Michael Oher Terminated by Judge
Image
The conservatorship former NFL player and The Blind Side subject Michael Oher was entered into nearly 20 years ago by Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy has been terminated by a Memphis judge, the New York Times reported.

In August, the 37-year-old filed a petition seeking to end the conservatorship. In it, he claimed that he learned only in Feb. 2023 that the Tuohy family were never his actual parents, only his conservators with legal authority over his business deals. The conservatorship began in 2005, four months after he turned 18.

“Michael Oher discovered...

Michael Oher's Conservatorship Terminated, Frees Control of His Finances From Tuohy Family
Image
Michael Oher‘s conservatorship will officially be terminated.

The 37-year-old retired NFL star filed a lawsuit in August asking to have the conservatorship that he entered when he was adopted by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy dissolved. His relationship with the family inspired the hit movie The Blind Side.

On Friday (September 29), a judge agreed to honor Michael‘s request.

People confirmed that Judge Kathleen Gomes announced that she would be freeing the athlete from the conservatorship. This will effectively give him back control of his finances, which the Tuohy’s assumed when he signed the paperwork.

In his initial filing, Michael alleged that he was tricked into the conservatorship and had not received royalties for The Blind Side.

Sean responded, denying the latter claim. The family’s lawyer also alleged that Michael threatened to leak unflattering stories to the press.

They later claimed...

Judge Says She Is Ending Conservatorship Between Former NFL Player Michael Oher And The Tuohy Family
Image
A Tennessee judge said Friday she is ending a conservatorship agreement between former NFL player Michael Oher and a Memphis couple who took him in when he was in high school, but the highly-publicized dispute over financial issues will continue.

Shelby County Probate Court Judge Kathleen Gomes said she is terminating the agreement reached in 2004 that allowed Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy to control Oher’s finances. Oher signed the agreement when he was 18 and living with the couple as he was being recruited by colleges as a star high school football player. Their story is the subject of the film “The Blind Side”, which earned Sandra Bullock an Oscar.

Gomes said she was not dismissing the case. Oher has asked that the Tuohys provide a financial accounting of money that may have come to them as part of the agreement, claiming that they used his name, image and likeness...

‘The Blind Side’ Parents Sean And Leigh Anne Tuohy Claim They Never Intended To Adopt Michael Oher
Image
Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy claim in new court docs that they referred to the NFL alum as a ‘son’ in the ‘colloquial sense.’

Sean Tuohy and Leigh Anne Tuohy have filed a response to Michael Oher‘s lawsuit. In the new legal documents, which Et obtained, the Tuohys deny Michael’s claim that they lied about adopting him and tricked him into making them his conservators in order to profit off of his story.

Rather, in the Tuohys’ response, the couple claims “they never intended to, and in fact never did, take any assumed legal custody” of Michael when they took him in as a teenager. Further, they “vehemently deny” that they told Michael “that they intended to legally adopt him.”

Even so, the Tuohys admit that they “occasionally referred to [Michael] as a son” and have “always felt [he] was like a son.” However, the Tuohys alleged that the word...

Image
Lawyers for former NFL player Michael Oher are seeking his school records and information about contracts and payouts related to the film “The Blind Side” as part of his highly publicized effort to end a legal agreement between him and Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy.

Shelby County Probate Court issued three subpoenas Tuesday asking for information from Memphis Shelby County Schools, Alcon Entertainment, which produced the movie, and Creative Artists Agency, a prominent talent agent firm known as CAA.

‘The Blind Side’ Financiers Defend Film Amid Michael Oher Lawsuit: ‘As True Today as It Was 14 Years Ago’
Broderick Johnson
Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, the cofounders and co-CEOs of “The Blind Side” financier Alcon Entertainment, have released a statement regarding the recent controversy surrounding a lawsuit filed by real-world footballer subject Michael Oher against Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy over compensation from the film.

“The notion that the Tuohys were paid millions of dollars by Alcon to the detriment of Michael Oher is false,” the statement read. “In fact, Alcon has paid approximately $767,000 to the talent agency that represents the Tuohy family and Michael Oher. We anticipate that the Tuohy family and Michael Oher will receive additional profits as audiences continue to enjoy this true story in the years to come.”

With the lawsuit — which claims, among other things, that Oher was placed in a conservatorship and never actually adopted by the family that famously took him in and helped shepherd his football career — many have started to pick...

‘The Blind Side’ Producers Respond to Michael Oher’s Claims of Inaccuracy: The Film ‘Will Never Be a Lie or Fake’
Image
Producers behind “The Blind Side” have issued a statement affirming the authenticity of Michael Oher’s story as told in the film, responding to Oher’s recent allegations that the Tuohy family fabricated his adoption and instead placed him in a conservatorship that he is still restricted to.

“We feel it is now important for us to respond to some recent media reports, which include many mischaracterizations and uninformed opinions,” Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, “Blind Side” producers of and co-founders of Alcon Entertainment, said in a statement Thursday. “The impetus for these stories has been a lawsuit by Michael Oher, which seems to have given critics and journalists alike a justification to unfairly pick apart the movie fourteen years later – some going so far as to call it ‘fake’ or a ‘lie.’”

The producers added that their film’s story remains “verifiably authentic and will never be a lie or fake,...

‘Blind Side’ Movie Company Defends Deal and Family Accused of Cheating NFL Star Michael Oher
Image
Alcon Entertainment, the company that produced The Blind Side, broke its silence Thursday after more than a week of the movie generating headlines as the subjects of the film traded accusations of ill-intentions and shakedowns. In a lawsuit filed Aug. 14, former NFL star and Blind Side subject Michael Oher said he was cheated out of profits for the film by the family at its center. But Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy have said they split profits from the movie with Oher and accused him of a $15 million “shakedown.”

Now Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, the co-heads of Alcon, are defending their Oscar hit, released in 2009, calling the accusations that the film’s true story was fabricated “mischaracterizations and uninformed opinions.” They also released an accounting of payments made in relation to the life rights to the project. (The deal was initially made at Fox, but Alcon inherited it when the company acquired the film.

‘The Blind Side’ Producers On Michael Oher Lawsuit Controversy: “Many Mischaracterizations & Uninformed Opinions”
Image
Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, the co-founders of The Blind Side financier Alcon Entertainment, who also served as producers for the supposedly true-life family drama, have addressed controversy stemming from a recent lawsuit filed by pic’s subject Michael Oher, claiming there have been “many mischaracterizations and uninformed opinions” put out about the situation, and that the film they made is “as true today as it was 14 years ago.”

“The Blind Side is verifiably authentic and will never be a lie or fake,” the pair stated, “regardless of the familial ups and downs that have occurred subsequent to the film.”

Former NFL star Oher’s petition filed in Tennessee court alleges that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, the couple depicted in the film as his good-hearted adoptive parents, tricked him into a conservatorship to secure legal authority over business deals in his name, depriving him of profits from the film...

The Blind Side: The Truth & Lies Behind the Movie
Image
The Blind Side controversy exposes the exploitative nature of the Sports Industrial Complex, particularly in terms of high school recruitment and college sports. Michael Oher's petition against the Tuohy family reveals a troubling relationship and raises questions about their true intentions and why they chose conservatorship over adoption. Oher's story highlights the disproportionate impact of the Sports Industrial Complex on young black athletes, who face criticism and threats to their agency and public image.

When ESPN’s Michael A. Fletcher broke the news of ex-football player Michael Oher petitioning in Tennessee court alleging Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy “never adopted him [and] tricked him into signing a document making them his conservators,” the general responses that arose were quite reactionary. With limited knowledge available, many news outlets were dusting off headlines signaling the white savior complex and calling for Sandra Bullock to give up her Oscar for her leading...

Michael Oher’s Lawyers Claim He Was ‘Kept In The Dark’ By The Tuohys About Finances In New Legal Filing
Image
Michael Oher has been keeping his lawyers busy, with People reporting on a new legal filing this week claiming that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy had not shared any financial information with him in nearly two decades, with Oher alleging he “has been kept in the dark” the whole time.

Oher sued his puportedly adoptive parents — whose story was dramatized in 2009 Oscar winner “The Blind Side” — last week, alleging they never actually adopted him, but instead tricked him into signing a document placing him into a conservatorship. He’s asking that conservatorship, which began when he was 18, be ended.

In his new filing, the retired NFL player is seeking an accounting of his finances in order to determine how much money they’ve made from his name, giving the Tuohys a two-week deadline to comply.

Ridiculous calls for Sandra Bullock to return her The Blind Side Oscar hit the internet
Image
Over the past week, some have called for Sandra Bullock to return the Academy Award she won for playing Leigh Anne Tuohy in 2009’s The Blind Side – and not because she didn’t deserve it. Rather, the outcry stems from former pro football player Michael Oher claiming that Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy never actually adopted him and instead used the story for financial gains, a discovery he made nearly 15 years after The Blind Side came out.

So, why are people calling for Sandra Bullock to return her Oscar for The Blind Side, which she won by beating out the likes of Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren? We’re afraid the attempts to find any logic within the situation have come up with absolutely nothing, since obviously (or so we thought…) the reception of The Blind Side and the numerous accolades Sandra Bullock received (also including a Golden Globe and...

Trading Card Escalates In Value After ‘The Blind Side’ Parents Discovered In Image
Image
A playing card featuring Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant has increased in value after Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, the couple embroiled in a dispute over payments from the film The Blind Side, were spotted in the background.

The Tuohys are in a dispute with former NFL tackle Michael Oher, whom they took in as a teenager and later signed to a conservatorship. Oher claims he was duped and is owed money, a contention the Tuohys deny.

Oher claims he earned nothing from The Blind Side, which depicted his rise from homeless teen to the NFL.

That drama has caused the value of a particular playing card to rise. Fans noticed the Tuohys on a Morant rookie playing card from 2019.

Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy are seated behind Morant. The card also depicts rappers Young Dolph, Crunchy Black, and Key Glock as well as actor Todd Bridges. Dolph...

'The Blind Side' Was Bad Even Before the Lawsuit
Image
If you were to cast your mind back to 2009, there was no greater insult of a movie than John Lee Hancock’s The Blind Side. Billing itself as the true story of Michael Oher, played by Quinton Aaron, it recounted how he was taken in by a wealthy couple, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy (played by Tim McGraw and Sandra Bullock in the film). According to the film, they were the epitome of kindness and almost entirely without flaw. The fact that Oher became a professional football player in the NFL through his own talents and hard work was made secondary to worshiping at the altar of his supposedly loving adoptive parents. This led to Sandra Bullock winning an Oscar for her performance as the Tuohy matriarch. The film itself was somehow nominated for Best Picture despite being one of the most painfully self-aggrandizing and hollow experiences you would’ve...

‘The Blind Side’ Subject Michael Oher’s High School Football Coach Addresses Conservatorship Lawsuit
Image
Michael Oher‘s high school football coach is weighing in on the lawsuit between Oher and the Tuohy family.

The 37-year-old former NFL pro filed a lawsuit on Monday that alleges that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy tricked him into a conservatorship and lied about his adoption status when he was 18.

Auburn coach Hugh Freeze, who coached Oher at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, called the legal drama “sad.”

“I think it’s sad. I certainly don’t claim to understand all the ins and outs of adoption, conservatory, all of that. I know what I witnessed,” Freeze said Thursday, per The Athletic’s David Ubben. “I witnessed a family that totally took in a young man and I think without that, there is no story.”

Although Freeze said he’s not aware of the specific details surrounding the lawsuit, he defended the Tuohys, calling their handling of the situation...

Sandra Bullock feels heartbroken after 'The Blind Side' controversy
Image
Los Angeles, Aug 18 (Ians) Things have not been going easy for Sandra Bullock this whole month. After her lover Bryan Randall died, the actress was already having it tough, but to make things worse now, the controversy regarding the film ‘The Blind Side’ has left her heartbroken as it is now being claimed that her Oscar winning role in the film is ‘tainted by a lie’.

The controversy came when back on August 14, the real-life subject of the film, retired NFL star Michael Oher, filed a lawsuit claiming that his adoptive parents swindled him by keeping the profits from the 2009 film.

Oher alleged that his adoptive parents, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, the latter of whom was played by Bullock in the film, tricked Oher into signing a document that made them conservators, and not his adoptive parents, allowing them to profit off him by using his name while not paying him any royalties whatsoever.
