The Lonely Island was a comedy trio founded by three best friends who grew up together: Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone. They are best known for their work on Saturday Night Live (1975) where they created SNL Digital Shorts that ranged from vibrant, comedic songs to bloody, darkly comedic skits. During their time at SNL they made a feature film called Hot Rod (2007) in which it parodied sports movies and added a lump of slapstick and started their music career, making three albums (Incredibad, Turtleneck and Chain, and The Wack Album) filled with songs from their Digital Shorts and completely original ones. After there time at 30 Rockafeller Plaza had come to an end they followed up their first feature film with a musically driven movie called Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016) in which they satirized the music industry and threw in catchy yet gut-busting songs with outrageously hilarious gags. Their third and most recent project was The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience (2019) in which they told the story of Jose and Marks' steroid abuse during their time in the MLB on the Oakland Athletics team. Overall, The Lonely Island have been a central part in comedy for the past 15+ years and have been a non-stop source of laughs.
