Huck Flyn was born Johnny Daniel Flynn in Evanston, Illinois in the
50s...at two years old, his family moved to southern California. He
started playing guitar Christmas of 1962 and played his first gig in
June of 1963, at an 8th-grade graduation dance. Flynn graduated from
Thousand Oaks high school in 1969, in the same class as Kurt Russell.
In the early 70's, after a brief stint in the U.S. Army, he met
director/choreographer, Kenny Ortega in San Francisco. Together they
wrote the script and soundtrack to Ortega's brain child, "Bimbo's
Cosmic Circus", an off-Broadway rock- musical, with which they had some
success. After the play closed, Flynn formed a band and went and played
venues in his hometown of Thousand Oaks, Ca. as well as, in and around
the L.A. area at the Troubadour, the Sasch, Palamino, Central, Coach
House, and more with such heavy weights as, Scott Page (Pink Floyd,
Toto, Super Tramp), Mike Murphy (REO), Lee Thornburg (Tower of Power)
and several others. In 1977, while attending a L.A. Kings hockey game,
he met and became friends with Chuck Barris. He wound up doing several
Gong Shows and a Dating Game. In 1985, now Huck Flyn, he joined the
"Otis Day and the Knights" tour in New York City, in which actor,
Dewayne Jesse was reprising his "Animal House" role out on the road.
Huck Flyn performed on an episode of CBS" Knots Landing in 1987 and
shortly after, while visiting a comedy club in San Francisco, began
doing stand-up as "The Rock n' Roll comedian, which he has done for
over 15 years.
