Osamah Sami is an award-winning Australian actor, writer, and comedian of Iraqi origin.
He recently starred in Sundance Film Festival Opening Night and Audience Award Winning film 'Shayda', in which his performance earned him his second Australian Academy (AACTA) Award nomination for Best Lead Actor.
He is also the co-writer and star of Sydney Film Festival Audience Award-winner, the hit Australian rom-com 'Ali's Wedding'.
In theatre, his work in Melbourne Theatre Company's 'I Call My Brothers' earned him a Green Room Award nomination for Best Lead Actor on a Main Stage production.
His critically acclaimed memoir 'Good Muslim Boy' was the winner of the NSW Premier's Literary Award and was also adapted for the stage for Malthouse Theatre Co and Queensland Theatre, selling out both seasons.
In 2019, Osamah was named Creative Artist of the Year at the Australian Muslim Achievement Awards. He is also recognized as a 'Notable Australian Muslim' by the Commonwealth of Australia.
