Andrew G. Cooper is a Canadian filmmaker, theatre creator, and puppeteer. His award-winning work as a writer and director has spanned across the stage and screen for over a decade, and they are the founder of Jupiter Theatre and Solaris Productions in Calgary, AB. Artistically, Andrew focuses on creating interdisciplinary art and storytelling through physical mediums such as puppetry, dance, circus arts, and mask.
Andrew created and produced (exp)lore, a site-specific podcast anthology with Jupiter Theatre and Media Lab YYC, which was nominated for ten Audio Verse Awards and three awards at the New Jersey Web Festival. Andrew wrote two episodes and directed two more for the series. He is also the creator and a writer of the science-fantasy puppet adventure Windchasers-earning nominations for Best Screenplay from AMPIA's Rosie Awards and Best Screenwriter from CSIF's Stinger Awards. As a performer, they debuted on television as a puppeteer on Apple TV+ with The Jim Henson Company's Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock.
Andrew holds their Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Thompson Rivers University and is the recipient of the Kamloops Mayor's Emerging Artist Award as well as a nominee of the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Award. Andrew is a lover of astronomy and animals and lives in Calgary, AB.
