John Schoonraad's effects work in the film industry transcends across
many different creative areas. Having made his debut in 1981 with the
Ryan O'Neil adventure 'Green Ice' he quickly became proficient in the
methods of body life-casting. Among his most prominent subjects have
been stars like Russell Crowe, Tom Hanks and Laurence Fishburne. He has
successfully brought his skills and new innovative ideas to the areas
of make-up effects, prosthetics and special effects and applied them to
films such as the award winning 'Gladiator' and 'Saving Private Ryan'.
He has worked with pop personalities David Bowie, Robbie Williams and
Bjork proving his flexibility in adapting to different kinds of media.
Well liked in the industry, John is now joined by his two sons Tristan and Robin both of whom are making an impact as talented effects technicians and mold makers within the film industry. In recent years, he has begun a series of tutorials in the techniques of life-casting and continues to make new approaches to his work in film and the effects industry.
