At long last, we got our first look at the second season of The Sandman during Netflix's Geeked Week. The show will continue to adapt Neil Gaiman's seminal fantasy comic about Dream and his band of eternal siblings, each of which represents a different as aspect of the human condition. Dream is the lord of dreams, which puts him in contact with all sorts of characters from myth and legend. The second season will adapt a story from the comics where a bunch of them travel to Dream's realm to attend to a matter of succession, which means Egyptian gods mingle with Norse gods mingle with freaky demons. It should be a good time.
We got a glimpse of some of these newcomers in a behind-the-scenes video. I want to draw attention to a couple of people in particular, since they're veterans of the Game of Thrones universe...

The voyage of the Straw Hat pirates continues apace in South Africa, where the team behind Netflix's live-action One Piece series are hard at work on filming season 2. Netflix is about two months into filming the second season of One Piece, according to Deadline. The first season of One Piece, based on the world-famous manga by Eiichiro Oda, was a big hit when it landed in 2023; bucking the trend of so many anime-to-live-action adaptations, it preserved the loopy elasticity of the animated original while still taking viewers on a rip-roaring journey that worked well in live-action. Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero) and Sanji (Taz Skylar) will all return as the crew travels into the dangerous Grand Line to fulfill Luffy's quest of finding the One Piece treasure and becoming king of the pirates.

Season 2 of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s world-famous manga One Piece (you can read our 6/10 review of the first season Here) is already a couple months deep into its production, and one character that fans have been eagerly looking forward to seeing in the new episodes is Dr. Kureha. Many were also hoping to see Jamie Lee Curtis bring the character to life, and Curtis let it be known that she would be lobbying to play the part… but it didn’t work out. Deadline reports that Curtis wasn’t able to fit the show into her schedule, since working on it would have required her to spend a couple of months in South Africa, where filming is taking place. So instead of Curtis, the role has gone to Katey Sagal, who is best known for the roles she has played on Married… with Children, 8 Simple Rules,...

Netflix’s One Piece has locked in two more actors for key Season 2 roles. In one of the series’ highest profile castings to date, Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) has been tapped to play Dr. Kureha. Mark Harelik (Presumed Innocent) is set to play Dr. Hiriluk in an almost perfect actor-character last name homonym.
The introduction of Dr. Kureha has been among the most anticipated elements about Season 2 of the live-action series based on Oda’s beloved manga. Jamie Lee Curtis had been approached for the role and wanted to do it, but as One Piece EPs Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements told Deadline last month, her schedule did not allow it.

The first season of Netflix's long-awaited Neil Gaiman adaptation The Sandman was, aptly, the stuff dreams are made of. Blurring the lines between serialised and episodic storytelling, and operating - aptly - in an almost dreamlike mode throughout its duration, the streamer's take on Gaiman's legendarily lore-filled 75-comic dark fantasy was the perfect introduction to the tale of Tom Sturridge's Lord of Dreams, Morpheus, and his Endless siblings. And with Season 2 already in production, today Netflix have announced a slew of exciting new additions to the cast for the upcoming series.
Playing characters from The Sandman collections Season Of Mists and Brief Lives, the cohort assembled to help usher in our return to the dream world includes *deep breath* Ruairi O'Connor (The Morning Show) as poet Orpheus, Game Of Thrones alumnus Clive Russell and Jack Gleeson as Odin and malevolent hobgoblin Puck respectively, Freddie Fox (Slow Horses) as God of Chaos Loki,...

The Sandman is Morpheus, also known as Dream of the Endless. And the Endless never end, right? I mean, it’s right there in the name.
Yet, with the show’s latest casting announcement, it’s clear that producers of the Netflix series The Sandman have the end in mind. The latest characters to appear in the series include some major players in Neil Gaiman‘s climactic tale World’s End, including Morpheus’s son Orpheus, Puck from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Norse gods Loki, Thor, and Odin.
Orpheus will be played by Ruairi O’Connor, best known for The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and The Morning Show. Comic book readers know Orpheus as the son of Morpheus and Calliope, the muse kidnapped by insecure writers in the episode bearing her name. After spending decades in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic book series The Sandman actually made it into production and was released into the world as a Netflix series in August of 2022. (Read our review Here.) Season 2 of the show went into production last year, then had to be put on pause for a while due to the writers and actors strikes. Thankfully, The Sandman season 2 was able to resume production as soon as those strikes came to an end, and a couple months ago we heard that new cast additions include Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna) as Delirium, Adrian Lester (Hustle) as Destiny, and Barry Sloane (Pleasureland) as The Prodigal. Now the names of several more new cast members and characters have been revealed:

With the release of Still Wakes the Deep less than a month away, developer The Chinese Room and publisher Secret Mode have revealed the voice cast for the game in a new mini documentary. The cast includes Alec Newman (Cyberpunk 2077), who will be voicing the main protagonist, Cameron “Caz” McLeary, and Neve McIntosh as Suze, Caz’s wife.
“The thing was so well written, and so well-conceived, that I don’t recall having very long conversations about what Caz should sound like,” says Newman, discussing what struck him about Still Wakes the Deep. “With this, you can feel the writing, you can feel the characters.”
Alongside Newman and McIntosh, the full cast for Still Wakes the Deep includes Karen Dunbar, Michael Abubakar, Clive Russell, Shaun Dooley, Stewart Scudamore, Nicholas Boulton, Duncan Pow, Sandy Batchelor, Alan Turkington, and Noof Ousellam.
Taking place in 1975, disaster has struck the Beira D oil rig off the coast of Scotland.

Fans of the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher should be filled with glee right now. After all, the world's biggest streaming service has axed a lot of fantasy shows in the last few years, including well-received ones like Shadow & Bone and Warrior Nun.
But The Witcher proved too popular to purge, due in part to the massive star appeal of Henry Cavill as the lead character, monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. And while fans of other fantasy shows are mourning their cancellations, The Witcher has been confirmed for two more seasons.
But its fans are more nervous than excited.
Cavill Out, Hemsworth In
In spite of his leading-man Hollywood cred, Henry Cavill is a self-proclaimed fantasy nerd. He campaigned hard for the role of Geralt and was open about his passion for the story. But creative differences soon caused friction on set, especially as the storyline of The Witcher...
