Over five years after Schitt’s Creek ended, Dan Levy’s upcoming comedy series Big Mistakes is set to bring together another all-star cast for the actor/director. WhileSchitt’s Creek eventually abandoned its original premise and this made the cult sitcom even better, Dan Levy’s show always had a great hook.
The cult series followed the Rose family, disgraced former multi-millionaires who relocated to the eponymous rural town after losing their fortune. There, they acclimated to a simpler life as Schitt’s Creek made Johnny Rose, his wife Moira, and their children David and Alexis more likable and relatable with each passing season.

"The Big Bang Theory" ended in 2019, and one of the many legacies that the long-running and beloved CBS sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady left behind is that the series was filled with extraordinary guest stars and supporting players. Some of them, in fact, are set to star in their own spin-off. The second major "Big Bang Theory" spin-off after the success of "Young Sheldon", titled "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe," will feature Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn, and John Ross Bowie, all of whom played great recurring roles on the first series.

Exclusive: Charlie Hall has joined the recurring cast of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s upcoming new season of Netflix’s “Monster” anthology series, which centers on murderer and suspected serial killer Ed Gein, played by Charlie Hunnam.
Known as the Butcher of Plainfield or the Plainfield Ghoul, Gein confessed to murdering two women in the 1950s and also allegedly made trophies out of bodies and skin of corpses he exhumed from graveyards. He is suspected of having been responsible for the deaths of others, including his brother Henry, but the authorities were unable to connect him definitively to any of the cases.
Gein’s story inspired the Leatherface character in Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and largely inspired Robert Bloch’s novel Psycho, which was later adapted to film with Alfred Hitchcock directing. He...

In the nascent days of the pandemic, many found themselves participating in activities that would otherwise have been deemed out-of-character (see: sourdough, jigsaw puzzles, ceramics.) Alden Ehrenreich, the actor who played a young Han Solo and has worked with everyone from the Coen Brothers to Park Chan-wook, found himself Googling Los Angeles commercial real estate.
For years, Ehrenreich would walk into various spaces — friends’ houses, restaurants, anywhere with a semi-raised platform, really — and offer the same refrain: “You could do a theater here.” The pandemic-induced downtime gave him the space to finally pursue a long-held desire to open a theater in Los Angeles. And the Google search led him to Huron Substation, a historical building in the Cypress Park neighborhood in the northeast of the city.

Stephen Colbert will guest star on the CBS crime dramedy Elsbeth, playing a fictional late-night talk show host. According to Vulture, filming for Colbert’s guest spot took place in New York this week, suggesting the role was likely planned before CBS announced on July 17 that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will end next spring.

The international aid community, which includes many top Hollywood donors, has been reeling since the White House effectively eviscerated Usaid at the start of Donald Trump’s second presidential term in January. After all, since World War II, America has been leading and shaping modern global policies and standards in humanitarian assistance.
The gutting cuts have shuttered the government agency and ended much of its critical fieldwork. Beyond relieving societal crises among the world’s most vulnerable populations, the multibillion-dollar programs also sought to reduce emergent threats from developing countries (such as infectious disease outbreaks) and act as a soft-power counterweight against geopolitical rivals including China and Russia. Even in a machine as massive as Hollywood, there's a finite pool of great talent when it comes to specific genres, and proving yourself as one of the experts in one field is likely to yield more work on similar shows. That's why actors who earned their chops on procedurals tend to keep appearing on one procedural drama after another. It's also why it's not uncommon to see established sitcom actors resurface on brand new comedy shows after they (and their old series with them) have spent some time away from the spotlight.
Usually, this is a case of individual actors entering a new show where they're surrounded by a combo cast of veterans from other series and perhaps a newcomer or two, with the ingredients combining to form a fresh new talent salad. However, there are exceptions, like the actor flow from "Roseanne" to "The Big Bang Theory." While...

Ryan Murphy and Netflix are in the process of developing a fourth installment of “Monster” that will follow Lizzie Borden, according to media reports.
The new season of the true crime anthology series will turn its attention to Borden, a woman who was tried and acquitted of the axe murders of her mother and father in 1892, though no one else was ever charged in the murders.
While “Monster” remains without a Season 4 renewal, the show is aiming for a potential shoot in the fall, with casting currently underway, per reports. Netflix declined to comment on this story.
The news comes ahead of the premiere of “Monster” Season 3, which centers on notorious 1950s grave robber, murderer and suspected serial killer Ed Gein, who served as inspiration for Norman Bates, the central character in Hitchcock’s classic 1960 film “Psycho.”

The ten-episode series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (read our review Here) was such a huge success for the Netflix streaming service back in 2022 that Netflix ordered two more seasons of the show from its creators, Ian Brennan and American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story was released less than a year ago, and has had quite an impact on the real lives of the title characters. Right before that season premiered last September, it was announced that Sons of Anarchy‘s Charlie Hunnam had signed on to play murderer and graverobber Ed Gein in Monster season 3 (which is apparently called The Original Monster). Although that season doesn’t have a premiere date, it’s expected to be streaming by the end of the year. Now, Variety hears that Monster season 4 is already in the works, even though no official season 4 renewal has been announced,...

“Monster” Season 3 has yet to set a premiere date, but Season 4 of the hit Netflix anthology series is already in the works.
Variety has learned from sources that a fourth season focused on the Lizzie Borden case is currently prepping for a potential fall shoot, though no official Season 4 renewal has been announced at this time.
Reps for Netflix and Murphy declined to comment.
Borden lived in Massachusetts in the late 1800s. In 1892, she was accused of murdering both her father and her stepmother with an axe at their shared home. Borden was eventually acquitted of the crimes, but the brutal nature of the murders attracted nationwide attention and contributed to Borden’s place in popular culture.
The case has been the subject of numerous adaptations across a wide variety of media. Recent examples include “The Lizzie Borden Chronicles” TV series starring Christina Ricci and the film “Lizzie” starring Chloë Sevigny and Kristen Stewart.

Lizzie became the main suspect and was tried for the homicides, but was acquitted of the crimes by a jury. Ashley Benson, Emily Alyn Lind, Madelaine Petsch and Sadie Stanley have been tapped for the lead roles in “Pretty Babies,” an indie female friendship drama written and directed by Tyler-Marie Evans, who makes her feature debut.
Set to enter production later this summer, the film follows two teenage girls who run away to Hollywood, chasing stardom, but their dreams lead them into prostitution, trapping them in the dark underbelly of the sex work industry as they travel from Texas to California.
“’Pretty Babies’ is a love letter to Old Hollywood. We’re pushing into something new with this script, and

Christine Vachon from Killer Films is producing, alongside Jordan Wagner from Wagner Entertainment. Benson will produce. Amanda Larney of Killer Films is associate producing.

Elsbeth‘s casting director stays busy with a constant rotation of guest stars to play killers of the week on the Columbo-inspired CBS procedural. The series has collected a star-studded guest list across two seasons that includes Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick (and his son!), Laurie Metcalf, Alyssa Milano, Mary-Louise Parker, David Alan Grier, Vanessa Williams, and more. Looks like Dance Mom will boogie all the way to the Emmy podium.
Julianne Nicholson, who played the joyous (and drug-addicted) character on Hacks Season 4, now leads the Best Comedy Guest Actress race, taking down longtime frontrunner Jamie Lee Curtis for The Bear, who won last year. Nicholson's Dance Mom, aka Mary Alice, was recruited by Paul W. Downs' Jimmy and Megan Stalter's Kayla to appear on Late Night With Deborah Vance as a way for the talk show-within-a-show to gain a younger audience. At first, Jean Smart's Deborah was hesitant to let the untested woman take the stage, until she realized it would annoy Hannah Einbinder's Ava, and then all bets were off.

While Tbbt fans might be aware of Laurie Metcalf as Sheldon Cooper’s religious and stern mother, the actress has many more mom roles in her resume than one might realise, including that of Andy’s mom, Mrs. Davis, in Pixar’s Toy Story franchise.
Throughout her decades-long career, she has delivered several portrayals of tough yet loving mothers in shows and movies such as The Big Bang Theory and Lady Bird, with the latter even earning her an Oscar nomination. However, tucked away in her impressive resume is her role as Mrs. Davis, Andy’s mom in the Toy Story franchise, a subtle and often overlooked performance.

Although it’s been months since The Conners concluded its seven-season run, an intriguing update has come to light courtesy of Roseanne Barr. As fans know, Barr starred as the matriarch of the Conner family in the ABC sitcom Roseanne, which ran from October 18, 1988, to May 20, 1997, and was briefly revived from March 27 to May 22, 2018. She, however, wasn’t featured in the direct follow-up series and was the only original cast member not to be, even though she recently claimed that she was asked to make an appearance.
This may seem surprising to many, considering Barr’s history with Roseanne. Back in May 2018, the sitcom’s revival was eventually cancelled due to the actress’ racially “abhorrent” tweet directed at then-president Barack Obama’s former advisor Valerie Jarrett. At the time, President of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey said in a statement:

Back in May 2018, the sitcom’s revival was eventually cancelled due to the actress’ racially “abhorrent” tweet directed at then-president Barack Obama’s former advisor Valerie Jarrett. At the time, President of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey said in a statement:
"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant, and inconsistent with our values,...

Carrie Preston has portrayed Elsbeth Tascioni — a delightfully unpredictable attorney — for more than 15 years. What began as a recurring character on The Good Wife evolved into a fan-favorite performance that continued on The Good Fight and now leads her own CBS series, Elsbeth, heading into its third season. With each iteration, Preston has peeled back more layers of Elsbeth’s eccentric persona, revealing a character as emotionally complex as she is offbeat.
“I love Elsbeth’s curiosity and her wonder and her positive attitude,” Preston tells Gold Derby. “It takes discipline to approach the world that way. It's infectious. I love getting inside of that mindset every day because it really helps me in my life.”
While “quirky” is often the go-to descriptor for Elsbeth, Preston believes there's more beneath the surface. “I don’t mind anyone calling her that, but that can be a little bit of a simplification,...

Before she sets foot in Radio City Music Hall this Sunday, actor Kara Young will have already made Tony Award history by becoming the first Black person to receive Tony acting nominations in four consecutive years, and only the second person overall. If she wins this Sunday, she will be the first Black person to win two consecutive Tonys.
And yet, the records don’t do Kara Young justice. The treasure is in each performance, one as different, complex and unfailingly compelling. In Lynn Nottage’s Clyde’s (2022) she played a former criminal who finds redemption as, of all things, a cook in a truck stop diner. The following season in Martyna Majok’s Cost of Living, she played Jess, a broke young woman who becomes a caregiver to a young man with cerebral palsy; and in 2024 she received a Tony Award for her featured role as Lutiebell Gussie Mae...

Kelsey Grammer has inhabited Dr. Frasier Crane on television for over 40 years (though not consecutively). Starting with his first appearance on "Cheers" in 1984, the acclaimed actor has taken the beloved psychiatrist from the friendly bar in Boston where everyone knows your name to his hometown of Seattle for a long-running spinoff and back to Boston for a short-lived (but hopefully extended) stint as a Harvard professor. He even stopped by Nantucket for an Emmy-nominated appearance at the tight-knit commuter airport on "Wings."
In all those years as Dr. Crane, Grammer has acted alongside a number of incredible guest stars. In fact, he encountered multiple in a single episode of "Frasier" since many prominent performers and personalities appeared as callers on the good doctor's popular radio show. Iconic "Superman" actor Christopher Reeve, rock music icon Eddie Van Halen, sitcom royalty Mary Tyler Moore, and prolific director Penny Marshall were just a...

When Norm Macdonald passed away in 2021, the world grieved deeply. Macdonald, with his deadpan delivery and deliberately tasteless jokes, often dealt in anti-humor by telling jokes so corny and dated that people laughed at Norm's audacity more than the joke itself. Just as many people were outraged as were impressed by the depths of his tastelessness during his stint on "Saturday Night Live," whereon he would openly and repeatedly mention the crimes and alleged horrific acts committed by celebrities like O.J. Simpson and Michael Jackson. Macdonald, like too many comedians of his generation, also made a series of transphobic jokes during his career, although he eventually (clumsily) apologized for them. "God bless trans people," he stated, "They should be given every right in the world, and anybody who wants to hurt them is bad."
Macdonald may have been appreciated, but he was never wholly mainstream, at least outside of standup and "SNL.

When Roseanne Barr was fired from the rebooted Roseanne in 2018, the producers decided that, in order to continue, the series would need to change. Instead of the sarcastic loudmouth Roseanne Conner as the center of her family, John Goodman’s Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf’s Jackie Harris and Sara Gilbert’s Darlene Conner stepped in to fill the void, making it a show with a bit less attitude and an increased focus on grief in light of Barr’s character’s death. These changes allowed the show — now rebranded as The Conners — to last for seven seasons.
However, not all shows are smart enough to fully pivot after a cast departure. Instead, many just end up replacing that person with a new character who has pretty much the exact same personality. The hope, presumably, is to keep whatever dynamics a show already possesses.
