Shira Levin, is a native New Yorker who began as a theatre actor before moving into screenwriting and then writing/directing/filmmaking. Formerly Director of Development for Martin Scorsese (6 years), she wrote/directed her first short film, Last Day, in 2012. Following that was Old Junk (2013) and Upside Down (2014), an Audience Choice Award winner at Springfield LGBT Film Festival in 2015. Her first feature film was Starfish (2018), an Audience Choice Award winner at Mystic Film Festival in 2018. Her second feature, a documentary, Forty Years in a Box, was recently completed and screened at the Big Apple Film Festival in May 2023.
