Arriving in the US from Cuba at a young age, Josi finished H. B. Plant
High School in Tampa, Florida then studied to become an Aeronautical
Engineer at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, afterwards, he
obtained a minor in film and upon graduation served with the US Air
Force for 6 years. Josi is a long time member of the Directors Guild of
America, has either produced, managed or directed over 60 feature films
with such talented actors as Steven Baldwin, Linda Blair, Ernest
Borgnine, Lorraine Bracco, Beverly D'Angelo, Robert Downey Jr. Charles
Durning, Robert Duvall, Alison Eastwood, Giancarlo Esposito, Frederic
Forrest, William Forsythe, Andy Garcia, Balthazar Getty, Lisa Hartman,
Terence Hill, Lee Horsley, Amy Irving, Raul Julia, Christine Lathi,
Jennifer Jason Leigh, Dillon MacDermoth, Jackie Mason, Kelly McGillis,
Tomas Milian, George Newbern, Danny Nucci, Judge Reinghold, Burt
Reynolds, Jennifer Rubin, John Saxon, Claudia Schiffer, Ray Sharkey,
Bud Spencer, Bo Swenson, Kathleen Turner, Christopher Walken, Peter
Weller, Ken Whahl, Stuart Whitman. His directorial debut was Freddy Of
The Jungle shot in 1980 and his latest Production was National Lampoons
Cattle Call (2007) released in the US by Lionsgate starring Nicole
Eggert, Diedrich Bader, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Paul Mazursky and Jonathan
Winters. Fluent in Spanish and Italian, Josi entered the film industry
as a DGA Assistant Director, then Production Manager and worked his way
to become a Writer, Director and Producer. His experience ranges from
Studio Pictures to Independents. Josi is a well-respected professional
with an extensive track record who has made films for Paramount,
Columbia, Sony, Lorimar, Universal, Cannon, Vestron, New Century,
Vista, Viacom (Showtime), USA Network as well as numerous independent
production companies.
On May 7th, 1987 Xavier Suarez, then Mayor of the City of Miami, proclaimed that date as "Josi W. Konski Day" for his community work. Josi is also a long time member of the Writers Guild of America West and has inked many screenplays.
