As part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event, we’re thrilled to debut a striking image of Jason Clarke in The Last Frontier, the upcoming Apple TV+ survival thriller from The Blacklist creator Jon Bokenkamp. Streaming October 10, the 10-episode series throws Clarke’s Frank Remnick — a lone U.S. Marshal — into an unforgiving Alaskan wilderness after a prison transport plane crashes, unleashing dozens of dangerous fugitives into the snow-covered barrens.
Clarke, who co-executive produces, says what drew him to Frank was the chance to play “a good man with moral complexity rather than a bad man who is morally challenged.” He explained, “I love moral complexity in a character. This time, I liked the idea of playing a good man with moral complexity rather than a bad man who is morally challenged." Clarke continued, saying, "The promise of adventure sealed the deal. The story was written as a nonstop wild ride,...

One of the stars of Yellowjackets has another plane crash thriller on the way, and Apple TV+ has finally announced a release date for The Last Frontier. Simone Kessell, who plays the adult Lottie Matthews in the cast of Yellowjackets, can't seem to get away from doomed planes with her upcoming drama series.
The Last Frontier is likely to be the last original TV show for Apple TV+ in 2025. The series stars Jason Clarke as Frank Remnick, a U.S. Marshal working in a secluded Alaskan town when a plane crashes. The plane was carrying several fugitives who have now been freed, and it's up to Frank to protect his friends and neighbors.
Kessell is set to play Sarah Remnick. It's unconfirmed, but Sarah is likely Frank's wife. The series was first announced in February 2023, but now we have a release date (via Variety). A press release for Apple on...

"The only thing scarier than a plane crash is a plane crash full of violent inmates." Uh oh. Doesn't sound good. Apple TV+ has revealed a first look announcement teaser finalizng the release of the series titled The Last Frontier. It's set to arrive for streaming on Apple TV+ starting on October 10th this fall. Of course this just reminds me of Con-Air. Though it looks more like Con-Air meets The Grey (the 2011 Liam Neeson survival thriller). The series follows Frank Remnick, a U.S. Marshal in charge of the quiet and weathered barrens of Alaska, as he needs to deal with a prison transport plane crash full of violent inmates inside his jurisdiction. Jason Clarke stars as Remnick, along with Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, & Alfre Woodard. I also recognize Clifton Collins Jr. on the plane. With episodes directed by filmmakers John Curran and...

Jason Clarke lit the world on fire in 2023 thanks to his gripping performance in Oppenheimer, but things have been relatively quiet for the star since then, until now. Clarke stars in the first images for The Last Frontier, his new Apple TV+ series that will begin streaming on October 10. Apple has also released the first short teaser for the 10-episode series, which also stars Dominic Cooper (The Gold), Haley Bennett (The Magnificent Seven), Simone Kessell (Yellowjackets), Dallas Goldtooth (Reservation Dogs), and Tait Blum (For All Mankind). The show was written and created for television by Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, who will also executive produce alongside Clarke. Clarke also wrote episodes of the show, which will be directed by Sam Hargrave, who has worked with Chris Hemsworth on both Extraction movies.

2025 may be nearly half way through, but in the world of TV the year is still young. As such, even though you may feel like the best TV you'll see this year is already behind us as we've headed down to the severed floor for Severance Season 2, stared at our reflection once again in Charlie Brooker's Netflix series Black Mirror, brought out the billy clubs for Disney+ must-see show Daredevil: Born Again, and had our collective socks knocked off by Philip Barantini's Adolescence, we assure you a veritable streaming smorgasbord still lies ahead of us in the coming months.
Yes, we may have just finished collecting our jaw from the flaw after that Andor Season 2 finale, and yes, the second seasons of both The Last Of Us and Doctor Who may have left our heads spinning, but there's still no shortage of returning favourites, fresh franchise offerings, original programming,...

Obi-Wan Kenobi was originally conceived as a movie and would have fallen under the "A Star Wars Story" banner. Solo's poor box office performance ended that possibility, and with Disney eager to bolster its streaming offerings, it became a six-part TV series.
Despite some divisive ideas and characters, the show was a hit and was praised for filling in the gaps between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Lucasfilm even found a way to give fans an Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader rematch, leading to that now-iconic scene where we caught a glimpse of what remains of Anakin Skywalker beneath the Sith Lord's helmet.
With a decade to go until Ben's demise on the Death Star, Star Wars fans are optimistic that a second season could happen, potentially exploring the Jedi Master's rivalry with Maul by expanding what we saw in Star Wars Rebels.

"I took a bite from Hilary Swank, and it was delicious," says Melanie Lynskey. "It was mashed up strawberries and sugar."
That’s how Lynskey summed up one of the most memorable scenes from Season 3 of Yellowjackets at a recent panel at the Newport Beach TV Festival, where the cast received the award for Outstanding Drama Ensemble. Lynskey, who plays adult Shauna on the Showtime drama, was joined by Christina Ricci (adult Misty) and Samantha Hanratty (teen Misty) for a Q&a moderated by Gold Derby’s editor-in-chief.
The cast also discussed the one question they would ask the showrunners, the deaths that shocked them the most, and who’s going to be left standing at the end. Listen to the full Q&a on Awards Magnet below.

Season 3 of Yellowjackets was pretty hard on fans. Showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson weren't afraid of raising the body count as the season progressed, and by the end of it, several main cast members had been killed off. We know how it felt on our end, but what about what the actors felt? During an interview at the Newport Beach TV Fest and before the Yellowjackets panel, Samantha Hanratty (who plays teen Misty) talked to Collider about how she felt while filming all those shocking deaths.
Hanratty told Collider's Aidan Kelley that, behind the scenes, the biggest challenge for her was filming Season 3 while pregnant with her first child (the pregnancy was not written into the series). She also shared the death that was the hardest to deal with, and it's no surprise that it was one of her most frequent scene partners.
"I think all of the deaths have been very intense.

When Yellowjackets first graced our screens in late 2021, not many of us could’ve predicted the celluloid hit would go on to become. The Showtime series about a high school girls’ soccer team crashing down into the wilderness has since established its standing as a highly addictive slow-burn thriller. Much like the show’s fictional survivors, Yellowjackets has not only endured the crash but exploded into a pop culture phenomenon.
The faultless casting, dual timelines, and gradual unraveling of the central mystery, have made the show utterly gripping. The contemporary series has seamlessly dominated discourse and gained a loyal cult following along the way. And now, Paramount+ with Showtime has officially signed off on a 4th installment for the series to continue a saga that refuse to lose momentum.

For the last month, fans of the Showtime series Yellowjackets (read our review of season 2 Here) have been waiting to hear news on whether or not the show will continue, following the April 13th finale of the third season. Now, we have the answer – and that is, yes, of course, Yellowjackets is getting a season 4. As Deadline reports, the renewal was a no-brainer because the season 3 finale was “the most-streamed Yellowjackets episode in series history with 3 million global viewers in seven days across linear and streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime.” Parent company Paramount Global also reports that season 3 was the series’ most-watched to date, as well as the most engaged on social media.
Yellowjackets is described as “equal parts survival epic, horror story, and coming-of-age drama.” The story centers on a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness.

Melanie Lynskey is savoring the success of Showtime’s Yellowjackets. As the addictive drama continues to captivate audiences with its mix of psychological tension and survival horror, the Emmy-nominated actress shares her excitement over the show’s growing fanbase.
"It’s so nice that people are still excited and more people seem to be finding the show," Lynskey tells Gold Derby (watch our full interview above). "You’re always nervous that things are going to take a turn and people will stop watching, so it was really lovely to hear that."
According to Paramount, the Season 3 finale was the most-streamed in the series' history — and Season 3 of Yellowjackets was its most-watched overall. Showtime announced the series was picked up for a fourth season just days after this interview took place.

'Yellowjackets' Fate Finally Decided After Season 3 Lands Lowest Rotten Tomatoes Score of the Series

The Antler Queen lives on. A month ago, Yellowjackets wrapped Season 3 and left many questions in fans' minds. Fortunately, Showtime has decided that we can continue following the soccer team for another season — the show is officially renewed for Season 4. The release window for the new episodes has not yet been announced. Even though no show is 100% safe these days, the Yellowjackets renewal doesn't come as much of a surprise. The Season 3 finale, "Full Circle," was the show's most-watched episode ever, according to Paramount+, with 3 million viewers. The streaming platform also announced that the latest season of the thriller series ranks among the most watched so far, suggesting that fans are more curious than ever to find out what the heck is going on in the wilderness and what secrets the girls and women are still hiding. The series' Rotten Tomatoes score, however, suggests that, despite the curiosity, fans are...

Though Disney+’s Andor series — a prequel to the 2016 motion picture Rogue One: A Star Wars Story — has been pretty great about casting continuity, at least one legacy character is now sporting a brand-new face.
Midway through Episode 6 of Season 2 (now streaming on Disney+), Senator Mon Mothma (played by Genevieve O’Reilly) and her husband Perrin (Alastair Mackenzie) got gussied up to tour the art collection of shady Chandrilan financier Davo Sculdun aka their daughter Leida’s new father-in-law. [Editor’s note: The following interview contains spoilers for “Yellowjackets” Season 3, Episode 10.]
“Yellowjackets” came full circle with a killer Season 3 finale on Friday, April 11 — closing the loop on questions viewers have had since the pilot aired four years ago. That same night, at Vidiots in Los Angeles, Showtime’s beloved cannibalism dramedy held an FYC event that had a line stretching down the block. Cast members Sophie Nélisse, Sophie Thatcher, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, and Samantha Hanratty were in attendance, and the screening turned away more than a hundred people.
“This was a really big emotional one for all of us, I think,” said Hewson in the IndieWire panel moderated by this writer, Alison Foreman. “The episode is called ‘Full Circle’ for a reason. It’s incredibly charged. We were all excited about it and looking forward to it, and I remember when the script landed in everybody’s inboxes, we were all just hunched over reading it.”

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets."
If there's one clear hero in "Yellowjackets," it's Natalie "Nat" Scatorccio, as played by Sophie Thatcher as a teenager in the past timeline and Juliette Lewis as an adult in the present timeline. Teen Natalie is the only character on the show who consistently tries to do the right thing, even if this sometimes backfires and makes everything worse. Whereas Tai (Jasmin Savoy Brown and Tawny Cypress), Van (Liv Hewson and Lauren Ambrose), Misty (Samantha Hanratty and Christina Ricci), Lottie (Courtney Eaton and Simone Kessell), and (especially) Shauna (Sophie Nélisse and Melanie Lynskey) have all disappointed us at one time or another, Natalie has stayed brave, kind, and reasonably level-headed.
By the end of season 3, it seems like the group has split into two main factions in the past timeline: one that's far more unbalanced, and Team Resistance, which is made up of everyone else.

Yellowjackets needed to deliver a win, and that’s exactly what the Showtime survival saga did when it capped its third season with Sophie Thatcher screaming from the top of a mountain to the head-banging tune of Aerosmith’s “Livin’ on the Edge.”
After a deadly season that was certainly the darkest one yet from showrunners Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson and Jonathan Lisco, and a revelatory finale that answered not only who killed Lottie (it was Shauna’s daughter Callie, played by Sarah Desjardins) but also unmasked the long-debated identity of Pit Girl as Mari (Alexa Barajas), Yellowjackets then followed teenage Natalie, played by Thatcher, to a mountaintop after she and Misty (explaining the smile Samantha Hanratty flashed in the pilot) secretly fixed the Sat phone from the scientists and Nat made a connection with the outside world.

Many things came full circle in the Yellowjackets season three finale, including a premonition that Lottie had about her death.
If you ask Courtney Eaton, who plays Lottie in the Showtime survival series’ 1996-1997 teenager timeline, the duality of playing a possibly clairvoyant character who has the ability to see the future while she, as an actor, doesn’t know what the showrunners have planned down the line isn’t lost on her.
“That’s the challenge with playing Lottie. She is usually the one to see and foreshadow things, but I don’t know anything as the actor, which makes playing her really fun because I get to make choices that could be interpreted a few different ways,” Eaton tells The Hollywood Reporter of the mystery drama.

Yellowjackets has found a new deadly duo.
After the killing spree of season three, the Showtime series ended with a revelatory finale, titled “Full Circle,” that answered both the biggest question of the series (who is Pit Girl?) and the biggest question of the season (who killed Lottie?). Both answers also indicated that Shauna (played by Melanie Lynskey in the present and Sophie Nélisse in the past) perhaps deserves what her surviving friends are now plotting against her in present day.
The wilderness timeline revealed that the girl who savagely died in the pilot of the series is Mari (Alexa Barajas), in a hunt that was sparked by “Antler Queen” Shauna (Nélisse). And the present-day timeline in the survival saga unmasked Shauna’s teenage daughter, Callie (Sarah Desjardins), as the murderer of Yellowjackets survivor Lottie (Simone Kessell). In between those revelations, fellow survivor Van (Lauren Ambrose) died...

After setting up a whodunit earlier in the season, the Yellowjackets finale revealed who killed Lottie Matthews. The answer was a surprising one, but not to the actor who made the fateful push.

That powerful push came after an interaction that raised more questions, even though it also provided answers, in the revelatory season three ending, “Full Circle.”

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details about the Yellowjackets, Season 3 finale episode “Full Circle“
After an eventful Season 3 finale, Yellowjackets fans no doubt have plenty of questions. Did Natalie reach help? Where did Jeff and Callie go? Does Shauna have a soul?
Leading up to this week’s episode “Full Circle,” co-creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson spoke with Deadline about the “spiritual symmetry” of the finale, which reveals the identities of “Pit Girl” and “Antler Queen” after they were teased in the 2021 Karyn Kusama-helmed pilot.
“In terms of bringing it full circle, there is always something exciting and maybe sort of daunting, because the entirety of — a large portion at least, in terms of narrative weight of the finale, is sort of starting where we began,” said Nickerson, who directed the episode. “The show’s obviously not over, but to sort of like land back at the beginning...

The Yellowjackets co-creators had promised answers by the end of the season. They delivered on that with a revelatory season three finale, “Full Circle.”
The Showtime series catapulted itself into the zeitgeist when it launched in 2021 with a captivating pilot about a team of high school soccer players whose plane crashes in the middle of nowhere. The pilot weaved together two timelines with that 1996 crash and the present-day survivors, played by a beloved cast, and there was a killer flash-forward opening of an unidentified girl running for her life, barefoot through snow, who is then impaled and eaten by her friends. This girl became known as “Pit Girl” — her identity speculated about and debated on fan threads for years. Who is this poor girl and how did those teenagers arrive at a place where they hunted their friends for ritual cannibalistic feasts?

Major spoilers for "Yellowjackets" season 3 ahead.
Now that it's over, it's fair to say that "Yellowjackets" season 3 rose above the early criticisms. The first half of the season dragged its heels and got dragged in turn by some critics. More than a few fans suspected the writers had lost the plot. But then episode 6 "Thanksgiving (Canada)" got the ball rolling with a new conflict: hikers stumbled on the girls, giving them the chance of rescue. That fractured the team further between those who wanted to go home and those who felt at home in the Wilderness.
The slam-dunk season finale, "Full Circle," even rectified some of the problems with Lottie's (Simone Kessell) death earlier this season, giving her a proper final scene and conclusion with Callie (Sarah Desjardins). And "Full Circle" gave us more answers than just those regarding Lottie's death.
"Yellowjackets" has finally started opening the mystery boxes it set.

[This story contains major spoilers from the penultimate episode of season three of Yellowjackets, “How the Story Ends.”]
Yellowjackets season three has not been for the faint of heart. This season of the hit Showtime series went on a killing spree, both out in the wilderness during the 1996 timeline, as well as in present day with the adult survivors of a plane crash that stranded them for 19 months when they were teenagers.
The most unexpected deaths came in episode four, when Simone Kessell’s Adult Lottie was mysteriously found dead at the bottom of a familiar looking staircase (seen in a vision by Lottie in season one), and in the penultimate episode when Lauren Ambrose’s Van was fatally stabbed in the heart by Adult Melissa (played by guest star Hilary Swank). The finale, which is titled “Full Circle” (written by Ameni Rozsa and directed by co-creator Bart Nickerson), will deliver the long-awaited answer around who killed Lottie Matthews, and viewers will see...

Following the death of Adult Van (Lauren Ambrose) in last week’s Season 3 penultimate episode ‘How the Story Ends’, co-creator Ashley Lyle explained to Deadline that “there’s at least a little bit of me” in the character.
“It’s tough. It’s tough to say goodbye to any character, and I think that I relate deeply to Van as somebody who also is obsessed with pop culture, always have been,” she explained. “I spent so much time as a kid and a teenager and a young adult in the kind of video store that [Van’s video store] While You Were Streaming is sort of living vicariously.”

Editor's Note: This article contains spoilers for Yellowjackets Season 3, Episode 9.
Yellowjackets fans can't seem to catch a break. After killing two major characters in Season 3, the series revealed that it is not done this week, with the episode "How The Story Ends" raising the show's body count by two — and one of the goners was, again, a main character. After introducing Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) to the cast, the showrunners proved that adult Melissa could be as vicious as all the other survivors, and she stabbed adult Van (Lauren Ambrose) to death with no mercy. With one episode to wrap up the new season, we can't help but ask: Will there be anyone left by the time the credits roll?
The death of Van is hinted at throughout the whole episode, with young Van (Liv Hewson) making appearances in the present-day timeline and guiding her older self to an...

The Yellowjackets are once again saying goodbye to one of their own.
“It’s sort of like a last-in-first-out kind of thing, also with Lottie[‘s death and Simone Kessell],” says Lauren Ambrose when speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her tragic ending in the penultimate episode of season three, “How the Story Ends.”
Yes, Adult Van’s story ends this episode. It’s an all-too-soon development for the beloved character who will be remembered by those who loved her for both her inherent goodness and for her self-sacrificial way out — to save the love of her life, Taissa (played by Tawny Cypress in present day and Jasmin Savoy Brown in the past). The episode began with a vision of younger Van visiting Adult Van while she’s near death from cancer in the hospital. Teen Van invoked the classic adventure film The Goonies to inspire Adult Van to keep fighting,...
