  • Quarterbacked the 1969 Minnesota Vikings into Super Bowl IV with a 12-2 record.
  • As of Dec. 2005 is the only quarterback to play in the Rose Bowl, Canada's Grey Cup, and the Super Bowl.
  • Kapp was elected to the Canadian Football League hall of fame in 1984.
  • Head coach of the California Golden Bears for "The Play," in which Cal defeated Stanford in the Big Game at California Memorial Stadium on November 20, 1982 on the final play of the game by completing five laterals.
  • Played for Calgary (1959-1961) and British Columbia (1961-1966) during his stay in the CFL.
  • Played in the Canadian Football League.
  • His son Will played fullback at UC Berkeley. And his grandson Frank Kapp is a tight end on the California Golden Bears.
  • Quarterbacked California in the 1959 Rose Bowl.

  • To supplement his B.C. Lions CFL Football salary, Joe Kapp worked in Sales at Glulam Products in New Westminster, a Vancouver suburb, during the off seasons. Glulam manufactured laminated wood beams, a type of structured timber used in buildings.
