Recently awarded the prestigious Asvoff award in Paris for Best Acting ,Alastair had a well-traveled upbringing ranging from Malaysia to Papua, Sydney to Samoa, England to Singapore. Originally trained to be a lawyer, relocated to train as an actor in London. Has worked in classical and contemporary theatre including the RSC and Royal Court, touring throughout the UK, Europe, Australia and Japan. Lauded by the Guardian as an "electrifying presence with machine gun delivery." TV includes classics like Doctor Who (1963) and Skins (2007). Over 30 film credits including with such seminal directors as Peter Greenaway (The Draughtsman's Contract (1982)) and Todd Haynes (Velvet Goldmine (1998)). Renowned also as an acclaimed architectural designer , scoring numerous magazine covers worldwide. Maintains a home in Rio De Janeiro's Ipanema, however his Portuguese still needs work. Has a son and 2 hounds.
