Australian playwright, novelist and screenwriter, usually of mysteries, thrillers and light romantic comedies. Formerly worked in advertising. Was director and co-founder of Whitehall Productions at the Minerva Theatre in Sydney's King's Cross (1937-50). Also had hit plays produced on Broadway and the London West End.
