More than 1000 entertainment professionals have signed an open letter released by the non-profit entertainment industry organization Creative Community for Peace criticizing the Toronto International Film Festival’s handling of the film “The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue.”

The letter was sent following the festival disinviting the film and then, following some backlash, offering to work with the filmmakers to meet the requirements of the festival and re-adding it to the lineup. According to those who criticized the move, the festival was “appeasing anti-Israel and antisemitic activists’ intent to silence Jewish voices” by omitting it and never offered an apology for its initial decision.

According to the statement, “TIFF’s attempt to disinvite the documentary is part of a growing trend of silencing Jewish and Israeli voices under the excuse of ‘security concerns.’ Rather than standing steadfast against violent intimidation and protecting filmmakers, TIFF gave cover to those who make threats.

Although Jesse Metcalfe made his TV heartthrob debut on ABC‘s Desperate Housewives in 2004, he missed a chance to break out that year on HBO.

The actor recently recounted passing up on “auditioning for Adrian Grenier‘s role” as movie star Vincent Chase in the hit 6x Emmy-winning Doug Ellin series Entourage, which ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2011 before culminating in a 2015 big screen offshoot.

“I had an audition for Entourage, and I read the pilot episode, and I was like, ‘This is stupid,’ and I didn’t go to the audition,” he admitted to People.

“Obviously, I had no idea what I was talking about,” added Metcalfe. “That ended up being an iconic show that I absolutely love, and definitely wish I was a part of.”

With antisemitism surging, Israeli influencer and author Hen Mazzig is launching a new online series “And They’re Jewish,” headlined by celebrities including Emmanuelle Chriqui, Debra Messing and Mayim Bialik.

The series, which will air weekly on Mazzig’s YouTube channel beginning April 2, was created in an effort to humanize Jewish people via the personal stories of high-profile participants who explore how they engage with their religion and heritage.

According to data released by the Anti-Defamation League, the number of antisemitic incidents in the U.S. from October 2003 to September 2024 tripled over the same period a year prior. We know TV characters have to die. Sometimes, it’s the villains that we’re ready for and cheering about. Other times, it’s the good guys sacrificing themselves for something bigger. Then there are simply the shocking deaths that we just didn’t see coming. 2024 had a great mixture of them all.

Some deaths hit us the hardest. We still can’t think of the shows without thinking of those deaths. In some cases, they’ve just hit the right time despite bring filmed months or years earlier. Other deaths are purposely poignant for the social climate of the world. After all, entertainment isn’t just there for entertaining purposes.

As we get ready to say goodbye to 2024, we look back at the character deaths that destroyed us the most. The aim is for broadcast deaths only, but there are a couple of basic cable and premium cable deaths that sneak in here.

Entourage creator Doug Ellin and his team just released the trailer for his new project, the TV Show Ramble On. It's been a long-time coming, as the press release reiterates. "In 2022, the newly created independent entertainment company Angry Lunch announced the brand-new series, featuring the all-star cast of: Charlie Sheen, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Martin Sheen, Kimiko Glenn (Orange is the New Black), John C. In the not-publicly-released trailer for the pilot Doug Ellin hopes to sell, Kevin Connolly pursues an entertainment industry hustle alongside Kevin Dillon. At first glance, it looks like a reboot of Entourage, Ellin’s early-2000s show about a rising actor and his team that starred Connolly, Dillon and others. Then halfway through the trailer, Charlie Sheen shows up.

Connolly, playing a version of himself, needs a hit for his podcast studio. So he approaches Sheen, who is also playing a version of himself. “This could be an amazing opportunity for both of us,” fake Connolly tells fake Sheen. “It could be your get-out-of-jail-free card.”

Heavy spoilers ahead for the "Superman & Lois" finale.

The era of the Arrowverse is officially over, as is the era of DC superheroes on The CW. It's fitting, then, that what started with "Smallville" telling the origin of Superman over 20 years ago would end with "Superman & Lois" bringing the story of the Man of Steel to a definitive end.

Unlike most shows in the Arrowverse, "Superman & Lois" didn't take on the form of an origin story. Instead, the show followed Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) after he had already spent 20 years on the job as the Man of Tomorrow, married Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), and had two teenage sons. By the time we meet him, this version of Superman has already accomplished nearly everything you'd expect the character to go through in a movie trilogy, having even defeated Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) and sent him to jail before the start of the series.

Superman and Lois had an amazing series finale with a truly powerful climax that closed out the Arrowverse in a bold way!

The grand finale for the series “It Went By So Fast” opened with Superman battling Doomsday, aided by his sons. It was a brutal fight before Superman finally managed to fly Doomsday into the sun. An oddly warm-hearted moment had Doomsday, in its final moments, remembering its life on that other Earth with Superman actually sad to see the brief man within the monster before it was consumed by the sun.

With Doomsday taken care of, the next step was Lex Luthor in a Kryptonite-powered suit of armor. By now realizing what a psycho Lex was, Amanda tried to quit with Lex trying to kill her, but thankfully, Jordan and Jonathan saved her.

I loved their performances in the franchise, but Superman & Lois took things up a notch.

The fourth and final season of Superman and Lois has been thrilling audiences over the course of its 10-episode run, reminding folks that some of the best adventures in the superhero medium come from the small screen. The CW series is the last remnant of the Arrowverse, having been spun out of Supergirl, but even though it's now set on a different Earth, it has earned itself a rightful place in all of our hearts as part of the greatest shared universe to ever exist on television.

Season 4 has seen the Kent-Lane-Irons family hit by so much loss and it all began when Doomsday killed Superman himself. When the beast returned for Sam Lane, the general came up with a plan to inject himself with Bruno Mannheim's super-powered serum, which would imbue his heart with some super-powered durability. And thus, they were able to revive the Man of Steel using Sam's heart.

The “Superman & Lois” showrunners knew they had a steep assignment crafting the ending for their CW adaptation of the caped superhero’s story. They were not scared to break the mold when wrapping their series after four seasons.

And they delivered. Not only did Episode 10, titled “It Went By So Fast,” see Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) save the day from Lex Luthor, it also followed as the beloved alien grew old alongside the love of his life, Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), before dying — for the second time on the show — a considerably peaceful death surrounded by his sons, and reuniting with Lois in the afterlife before the screen faded to black.

The cast of Superman & Lois reflect the more mature ages of the Superman mythos' characters compared to most versions. Set within the CW's sprawling Arrowverse, Superman & Lois describes the adventures of an older, more experienced iteration of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, who are already married with two children, Jonathan and Jordan Kent. By the start of the first season, set in release year 2021, both Clark and Lois have already had time to gather years of experience in the field as a superhero and star reporter, respectively.

It's official: Supergirl isn't going to show up in the season finale of Superman & Lois. And, as a result, that and some other regrets have now been detailed by stars Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch. Hoechlin portrayed the Man of Steel in both the Arrowverse and on the beloved CW series, but he insists on not wanting to be “greedy” where his own regrets are concerned. However, Hoechlin did mention that he actually crossed a couple of key things off of his wish list for the Superman series. The beloved series Superman & Lois is imminently coming to an end, as the finale is set to debut on The CW on Dec. 2. Ahead of the final episode's airing, series star Tyler Hoechlin commented on the possibility of revisiting his role as Clark Kent.

Per Screen Rant, Hoechlin commented on Superman & Lois ending its run while at a San Francisco Fan Expo panel. When discussing the possibility of returning in a potential spinoff, Hoechlin said he "would totally do animation," as he won't exactly miss the process of suiting up as Superman. As the actor added, "I don't have to put the suit on for that, right? [...] Sweatpants and a T-shirt sounds good to me."

"He's not only a cast favorite but also a crew favorite, and he was wonderful to have on set," actor Michael Cudlitz told TVLine after The Flash star cameoed as talk show host Gordon Godfrey, setting up Lex's on-camera showdown with Lois Lane as part of his revenge scheme. Cudlitz also described Cavanagh as "a lot of fun, he has a lot of energy, he's incredibly creative, and he's not afraid to throw out everything he's done and come up with something new.
