excellent work

i thoroughly enjoyed this film, it was very well written; Joel Davenport should move to Hollywood to teach film makers how to write. It shouldn't be hard for Joel to succeed in future works, because he pays so much attention to detail. Every character is well developed, as well as the setting/time period and each scene. Each change in the scenery is seamless; the entire film is convincing. I would like to see more movies where this much care has been taken to pursue an idea. This film was created by a student as student work, but looks to be the work of a professional. This film has more substance than most of the popular movies on the market today.

Great

This is the best student film I've seen. I just saw The Drill at the Jay Sanders Film Festival here in Auburn, Alabama and the film was great. The writing, directing, acting, everything was excellent. I really liked the opening of the film and how it leads into the main plot. The film is very realistic, and I liked the point of view of the kids. The black and white really sets the tone, as well as the time period of the film. Also, I enjoyed the relationship between the white kids and the black kid. The teacher's character is even developed. The photography in the film looks professional. I could definitely see this film on TV, in theaters, anywhere....I can't believe a student made this film. I can't wait for more from Joel Davenport.
