Time-Sensitive Networking Task Group

The Time-Sensitive Networking Task Group is part of the IEEE 802.1 Working Group. For general information, e.g., ongoing and archive TSN projects, please refer to the 802.1 home page. For published IEEE 802.1 standards, please refer to the IEEE Get Program.

The charter of the TSN TG is to provide deterministic services through IEEE 802 networks, i.e., guaranteed packet transport with bounded low latency, low packet delay variation, and low packet loss. The TSN TG has been evolved from the former 802.1 Audio Video Bridging TG. The TSN TG includes the former 802.1 Interworking TG. The original work on AV bridging was done as part of the "Residential Ethernet Study Group" of IEEE 802.3. An introductory presentation and an overview paper may be useful in order to get started. TSN standards can be applied in many verticals, e.g., industrial and automotive networks.

The informal 802TSN.org site is used to organize face-to-face and virtual meetings of the TSN TG, see further details below. This informal site also provides further auxiliary information.

Ongoing TSN Projects:

See the TSN section of the 802.1 home page.

Face-to-Face Meetings:

See IEEE 802 Plenary meeting information and IEEE 802.1 Interim meeting information.

NOTE: Every participant *must* review the IEEE patent procedures as outlined at http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/pat-slideset.pdf.

Active FtF Agenda

The currently active agenda (meaning the agenda of the FtF meeting currently under way, or the meeting just completed) can be found at the current agenda page of the informal 802TSN.org site.

FtF Agenda Requests

Agenda time requests can be submitted at the FtF agenda request page of the informal 802TSN.org site by the Friday before the FtF; the sooner the better.

Historical FtF Agendas

The agenda of former meetings are also available at the informal 802TSN.org site.

Virtual meetings:

In addition to the regular FtF meetings, the 802.1 TSN TG holds weekly phone calls on Mondays from 8AM US Pacific Time. The calls are generally two-hour long; the first hour is typically for general TSN issues and the second hour is specifically for 802.1AS-Revision work and synchronization issues. Note that the exact use of the virtual meeting time depends on the actual agenda requests and the work to be done; the above division of the two hours is not carved in stone. The agenda or the cancellation of the calls is announced on the 802.1 email list, latest on the Friday before a particular Monday.

NOTE: Every participant *must* review the IEEE patent procedures as outlined at http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/pat-slideset.pdf.

Call Agenda Requests

Agenda requests can be submitted at the weekly call agenda request page of the informal 802TSN.org site by the end of Thursday before the given Monday; the sooner the better.

Call Agenda

The agenda for a call or the cancellation of a call is announced on the 802.1 email list, latest on the Friday before the given Monday. The weekly call agenda request page of the informal 802TSN.org site also provides indicative information on forthcoming and past agenda items.
