During the meeting, the Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for the work of the Court, underscoring its important mandate to clarify the legal aspects of international disputes.

    The public hearings on the merits in the case concerning Land and Maritime Delimitation and Sovereignty over Islands (Gabon/Equatorial Guinea) concluded today, 4 October 2024. The Court will now begin its deliberation. The Court’s decision will be delivered at a public sitting, the date of which will be announced in due course.

    HE Ms Alexandra Hill Tinoco, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of El Salvador is welcomed by the President of the Court, HE Judge Nawaf Salam

    On 9 September 2024, HE Ms Alexandra Hill Tinoco, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of El Salvador, paid a courtesy visit to the International Court of Justice at its seat, the Peace Palace in The Hague. Ms Hill Tinoco was welcomed by the President of the Court, HE Judge Nawaf Salam, and the Registrar, HE Mr Philippe Gautier. During the visit, the Minister expressed El Salvador’s commitment to resolving international disputes through judicial means, dialogue and negotiation, and reaffirmed its support for the ICJ’s role in maintaining global peace and justice.
