Greenwich Entertainment has picked up the North American rights from XYZ Films to Patrick Trefz’s Man in the Field: The Life and Art of Jim Denevan, a feature documentary about a multimedia artist best known for staging elaborate outdoor meals.
Greenwich plans a 2021 release after the film completes its festival circuit run. Chef Denevan runs Outstanding in the Field, which bypasses the traditional restaurant and hosts grand dinners in beautiful natural settings from vineyards, beaches, fishing docks, and city streets. He has set long tables for outdoor dinners from 100 to 1,000 guests in all 50 states and 16 countries.
Man in the Field, produced by Trefz, Christie Jarvis and Andreas Jaritz, premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.
“We are thrilled to be working with Greenwich to share this amazing expose. It’s an honor that Jim trusted me with not only the stories of his amazing art and events but his personal story — and that of his family,” Trefz said in a statement.
The distribution deal was negotiated by Greenwich’s Andy Bohn and XYZ’s Nate Bolotin and Pip Ngo on behalf of the filmmakers.
