Observations by an old fart, wallowing in a life well-spent, swinging solo in a hammock, on a sugar white beach on the Sea of Cortez, in Baja California Sur, Mexico. Listening to the sounds of surf and sea breezes lasciviously fingering the surrounding high, shimmering palm fonds, inspired John to become a writer.

He writes: revealing, informal and form poetry about nature, and and his fellow humans, through the sharp penetrating lens of his life. John creates insightful literary fiction/genres; romantic love, and adventure novels, piercing biographical works and memoirs, humorous short stories and flash fiction including drabbles. Articles in newspapers and comments on social networks. John David Lionel Brooke lives a simple, happy life, s

I have to stop, organize and write out the various timelines of the action and their delated details. This abruptly halts the flow of my story. I become blocked, and believe me its hell. For novels or any work over 50,000 words I’m striving to become a Plotter before writing anything. When this writers block strikes I go to other projects I’m working on as I work out the chronology of the actions/chapters in my novel. on the side.

Mother Lode - Paperback

Oh no, not another memoir/biography about childhood family poliitics, mental and physical abuse. Yawn. Well my story of course is somewhat different. Subtle it's my journey growing up voiceless until 8 years old and being treated as a brainless dummy.

My family finally had my physical impairment surgically corrected, circumciseed and changed my name. All that and they didn't want to hear what I had Read more of this blog post »

“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
Steve Jobs

John Brooke Hola C.J.,

Reading through Reflections of Mamie, you will not only feel and care, but marvel at the authors persistence in overcoming many diabolical emotianal hurdles and physical barriers that blocked her into adulthood. But she never gave up. It is an enlightening paradox of a woman's love. Not enjoyable reading, despite some humorous lines, but truly insightful with a triumphant wrap-up.
