Random next() method in Java with Examples

The next() method of Random class returns the next pseudorandom value from the random number generator's sequence. Syntax:

protected int next(int bits)

Parameters: The function accepts a single parameter bits which are the random bits. Return Value: This method returns the next pseudorandom number. Exception: The function does not throws any exception. Program below demonstrates the above mentioned function: Program 1:

import java.util.*;
public class GFG {
    public static void main(String[] args)
    {

        // create random object
        Random ran = new Random();

        // generate next random number
        System.out.println("Next value returns = "
                           + ran.nextInt(9));

}

Output:

Next value returns = 8
