How to Install PyMedia for Python in Windows?

PyMedia is a module of Python programming language that manipulates audio files. It supports the given audio formats, including avi, divx, MP3, Ogg, cdda, Wav, dvd, etc. This module allows users to perform various operations on media files such as parsing, multiplexing, encoding-decoding, etc. The PyMedia module is supported by all versions of Python 2.3+ in macOS, Linux, and Windows. It has no dependencies other than the standard Python Library.
Features of PyMedia
- PyMedia has a highly simple and user-friendly API that even a newbie could snap into at first sight.
- It supports many formats such as mp3, wav, and many others.
- It supports both audio and video media manipulation.
- It does not have any dependencies other than the standard python library.
Installation of PyMedia on Windows OS
Step 1: Check for python installation with version 2.3 or above. Type “python” in the Windows terminal. If it opens an interface as shown in the following figure then, continue to the next step else, download the latest version of python from https://www.python.org/.
Step 2: Now download the PyMedia binaries.
Step 3: After installation, check the name of the executable file, it should be like PyMedia-x.x.x.win32-py2.x.exe. Now, it is mandatory to have the 2.x version of python as given by the name of the downloaded file. So, go to python-downloads and download the 32-bit, 2.x version of python and install it on your computer as mentioned in How to download and install Python Latest Version on Windows. Continue to the next step after the installation.
In the above image, the python version is 2.7.x therefore, the user needs to install this particular version before installing the pymedia executable.
Step 4: Once all the prerequisites are fulfilled, run the PyMedia executable. It should open a window like,
Now, press enters and it should check for python 2.x 32-bit version. Continue with the installation process and finish it in the last step as
Step 5: To check whether or not the PyMedia module is installed properly, open the python command line of 2.x version and type
