The flex-direction property is a sub-property of the Flexible Box Layout module. It establishes the main axis of the flexible items. The main axis can be horizontal or vertical, depending on the value of the flex-direction property.
Note: The flex-direction property only works on flexible items. Without flexible items, this property has no effect.
Default Value: row
Syntax:
flex-direction: row | row-reverse | column | column-reverse;
Property values:
Value | Description |
---|
row | Displays items horizontally, following the normal text flow (left to right). |
row-reverse | Reverses the order of items, arranging them from right to left. |
column | Stacks items vertically, starting from the top and moving down. |
column-reverse | Flips the vertical order, displaying items from bottom to top. |
