Flexbox is a powerful CSS layout model that simplifies the creation of flexible and responsive layouts. It allows you to align and distribute space among items within a container, making complex designs easier to manage.
Flexbox is particularly useful for building responsive designs that adapt seamlessly to different screen sizes.
Layout Modes Before Flexbox
Before the introduction of Flexbox, CSS relied on four primary layout modes:
- Block Layout: Used for structuring sections of a webpage (e.g.,

). - Table Layout: Used for displaying tabular data in a two-dimensional grid (e.g.,

1. flex-direction
The flex-direction is used to define the direction of a flexible item. The default axis is horizontal in Flexbox, so the items flow into a row.

- display: flex: Enables Flexbox layout for the .container to arrange its child elements.
- flex-direction: row: Aligns items in a horizontal row (default behavior).
- gap: 10px: Adds a 10-pixel space between the flex items for better spacing.
2. flex-wrap
The flex-wrap property is used to define the wrap of flex-items. If the flex-wrap property is set to wrap then the browser's window set the box. If the browser window is smaller than the elements then the elements go down to the next line.

- .item styling: Each box has a fixed size and centers text for a clean layout.
4. justify-content
The justify-content property is used to align the flex items according to the main axis within a flexbox container.

5. align-items
CSS align-items property is used to align flex items vertically according to the cross axis.

- align-items: center: Vertically centers the items within the container.

6.align-content
Align-content property defines how each flex line is aligned within a flexbox and it is only applicable if flex-wrap: wrap is applied i.e. if there are multiple lines of flexbox items present.
