Grain has been most helpful to us as an add-on to all of your internal and external meetings. Some of our most favorite uses of it include: highlighting quotes; highlighting material to be used in creating social media content; sharing a transcript of the meeting with a client or our students; being able to easily revisit the meeting, search on a keyword, and call up what we want in a matter of seconds.
We've been using the Grain app for over 3 years and their onboarding and on-going support makes it so easy to learn how to use. Implementation in our business was super simple because Grain support was there to answer any questions that we had.
Not a workday goes by that we don't use Grain as part of every meeting we have. It easily integrates with Zoom and we just love that feature too! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't anything I don't like about Grain. They are an absolutely amazing, dedicated, and friendly company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It automatically attends all my meetings even if I'm not there. So it helps become a true assistant to take notes for me. Also I love the feature within AI where you can ask it anything about the meeting like next steps, challenges one of the attendees brought up, particular summary around a topic etc.
It's easy to have the summary and bullets and then quickly share that with anyone.
The reliability and accuracy of the notetaking releases the stress of me worrying about missing any important information. Therefore I'm able to be focussd and have my full attention with the attendees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The filter to get tagged clips/notes could be easier but I have to do a few more clicks and go into multiple meetings vs just filtering by the tag and seeing all of them across all my meetings. I hope this filter will improve in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have tried a few similar tools, and I use Grain on a daily basis. I really like it because I often share recordings with clients and can easily clip videos to share internally with our support team to review bugs.
Additionally, the transcription feature is very helpful for understanding the topics discussed and for follow-up. The templates for the transcripts are great as they organize the meeting outcomes in a very digestible way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find it sometimes challenging to invite Grain to a meeting if it gets removed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

- it helps you create a follow-up email
- the cadence at which they launch new features is impressive
- their customer support is very responsive
- I use all the time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much. Maybe there are a few integrations that would be nice to have like other VoIP systems for example but not essential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Grain AI Notetaker is a game-changer for efficient note-taking. It automatically capture key points and suggest relevant tags, ensuring nothing important is missed. Seamlessly integrating with all the tools that I use zoom, zapier, slack and it automatically generate a comprhensive summary wiht the help of AI.
The user-friendly interface and collaborative features make sharing notes with my students effortless, Grain saves me significant time!
Overall, Grain AI Notetaker is a must-have for anyone looking to streamline their note-taking and boost productivity. Highly recommended! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would love to get the live note audio transcription (not only meetings) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As the revops manager, I like how simple to implement it is, and how simple to use. We onboarded Grain and no complaints from the team. It just works and records everything. Transcript is accurate, AI summary works like a charm; but both are mainly for English.
The product team is adding new features regularly, such as tagging people & commenting. It is really helpful for coaching. Conversatinal analytics were also missing but added recently. Clearly they are listening.
Cost-wise, it is not overpriced. An easy pick. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I believe automatic categorisation can be improved. I would like to be able to record only "some" of my external meetings, or I would like to send the AI summary to my Slack only for "some" of the call etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that grain is really easy to use and is a great way to go back and look at what was said during a meeting without having to take detailed notes the entire time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would like Grain to build more functionality around managing shared folders and settings default behaviors around sharing to specific groups of people. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can focus in paying attention to the meeting instead of getting distracted trying to get notes. Also I can create short clips of the meeting if I want to share with the team only the main part instead of the whole meeting Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would like to be able to join to webinars and to have more than one language per meeting Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This has changed how we do business. We use it everyday. Now people don't need to be syncronously in every meeting. If needed, someone can review the contents later - and that can be a specific clip or at 1.5x speed.
Some use cases this has helped with:
* What did the customer request or say on the call with sales? Now we have a record, not just heresay
* What is the context around customer feedback? Now we have it, and can share those clips, especially the encouraging ones, with the individuals building the product
* How do we get people onboarded? Have them watch calls, understand how to speak about issues, learn directly from what customers are saying
* What did we agree to in an internal meetings? We have a record
Grain helps with so many use cases and has truly deomcratized so many things that would be gatekept in the past. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish Grain was slightly more intelligent about digesting who is talking and summarizing based on that. In external meetings, I need most of the summary focused on what the customer said. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Video recaps are easy to create and much more powerful than written notes
- Saves a ton of time taking notes
- Transcripts, highlights and stories lead to higher-quality research findings Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- As the only one in my compay using it currently, it feels a little harder to directly share. However, the ability to drop + view clips directly into Slack has helped overcome that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Before Grain, I relied on Zoom recordings to record user interviews I was conducting. But sharing insights in a easy-to-consume way was hard. And these recordings mostly went into a Notion database to die. I mostly recorded them for later, if in any case, I would have to look something up.
But with Grain, I could easily timestamp something in an interview and share that snippet to Slack. I still remember my first time using Grain and how groundbreaking that felt! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Our engineers don't speak German, and most of our users are in German. Grain also transcribes videos. Now if the transcript could be translated, and then Grain would automatically generated subtitles for the video — or even generate automated synchronized voice in a foreign language of the speaker (hello LLMs!), this would be HUGE! Then engineers could watch user interview although it wasn't in their language! Wow! Maybe it could happen almost live? Just a thought. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am an attorney and I work at a law school. One of my duties includes supervising law students to prepare them for civil rights and restorative justice presentations. Students and colleagues love the transcripts and video recordings because it ensures that they can get detailed notes about everything stated. It's also extremely helpful for note taking purposes for any meetings that we may have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I honestly can't think of anything that I dislike about Grain. My only complaint is the limited nature of the free option as either monthly or yearly billing isn't very affordable in my line of work. However, I believe that it would be worth the money! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's super easy to use, transcribes calls, and makes it extremely simple to create clips that can be shared internally or externally. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are lots of competitors in the market. Luckily, Grain has been awesome so far, so we haven't had any reason to look elsewhere. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Grain's highlight feature is a particular highlight! It has revolutionised the way we take and share meeting notes amongst our team.
We've also used grain for user interviews and the highlight reels went down very well with our client.
In terms of internal use, having grain auto-join meetings has been invaluable in the evidencing decisions and sign offs.
Get it! You won't regret it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'm struggling with this one. I genuinely can't think of anything noteworthy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ever since I started recording my meetings with Grain, I've recalled each session and what was discussed in 1/2 of the time I used to.
Grain has become essential software for running my business as a Solopreneur. It feels as if I have a team that joins me in the meetings and takes care of writing specific to-dos, summarizing discussions, pointing out key moments, and ensuring every moment is transcribed.
I also love that I can have my AI recorded join into meetings that I cannot join personally. Impressive feature and has saved me a lot of time. On top of this, having the ability to automate Grain with Zapier has been a huge time saver by automatically sending follow-up emails of the recordings to my clients.
Even my clients are impressed with the software after I share post-meeting notes. Highly recommended. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have not found anything I disklike about the software so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Searchable transcription where I can search key words and get a relatively accurate quote of what the user said. I also like that this is available immediately after the call. I like that grain recorder will ask to join my google hangout calls and once I've gotten verbal permission from the user to record the call, I'll admit the grain recorder into the room to record. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes transcription gets words wrong. An example from my most recent call was that it transcribed "headphones" as "husband". I normally go through the transcription immediately after the call to get user quotes and share notes over slack with the rest of my team so I've been able to remember what the user actually said if there's an odd word in the transcription. I love how easy Grain has been to set up and use. We use it to record and transcribe all of our sales, onboarding, and customer check-in calls at Arrows. The ability to quickly highlight and organize portions of the calls makes it incredibly easy to revisit conversations, share customer feedback internally, and always have a pulse on the voice of our customers.
I've had customers tell me "wow, you remember everything we say!" - yup, thank you Grain!
I also really love my CSM at Grain. Katie has been incredibly helpful in teaching me best practices, sharing updates on features and roadmaps, and spending the time to build a relationship with me. She also captures all my product feedback and keeps me informed when things do get updated!
Grain's new AI features are also super valuable because they help summarize calls automatically!
Great team and a great product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't much I dislike about Grain. The platform itself keeps improving as they continue to listen to customer feedback. Features I felt have been missing, are quickly added to their roadmap and often implemented before my next scheduled check-in with our CSM.
Things that I thought could improve (like the ability to more easily filter between calls, edit clips, and update the transcription) all keep improving as the team builds the product and continues to learn from customer feedback.
Grateful that they listen to their customers and improve the product accordingly! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Grain takes all my recordings and makes them easily accessible in a tile or list format allowing me quick and easy access to what I want and when I want it. This format provides me with the ability to quickly and concisely address areas in videos where I've provided excellent or poor service and the ability to adjust it with velocity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For my purposes, the only downside I see is the inability to select, copy and paste the transcription directly from the recording page. I admit that this could be because of something I'm doing or not doing AND I am always looking for ways to make more use of the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can use it to record all my online meetings so that I don't have to write notes. It makes these meetings much more valuable because I can reference them. We use it in our discovery call and proposal generation process so that another team member can write the proposal even if they weren't in the Zoom meeting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a little clunky when trying to figure out where the grain recordings are organised. I would love to just be able to set a default library for them to be added to rather than having to move them from my personal library to the shared company library. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I appreciate the ease of adding the recorder automatically to any meeting and the option to only use it for myself, without sharing to the whole team. I keep my head together when I can review the recording back after the meeting to be sure I was clear on the outcomes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike the inability to remove videos from the workspace as an admin. I think there is an opportunity to allow admins control to access what is being shared in the company workspace and to protect the privacy of those videos, when needed.
I don't like the aggressive nature of the platform when it enters into a Google Meet call. When it's not a part of our organization, it has to be admitted and you can consistently see the recorder in the view. Especially awkward when we are two people and the recorder stays there. With Zoom, we are able to hide it, while everyone knows it's there, it is not as obvious. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Grain is one of those products that I don't know how I lived without it. As a senior product manager - I am constantly doing qualitative interviews with customers, ICPs, stakeholders - and I simply don't have the time to take notes, review Zoom recordings, etc. Grain makes it easy to digest important calls, disseminate the information across stakeholders, and act quickly on important information I receive from everyone I talk to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Two things:
1. More integrations with our general workflow. We use Shortcut and Notion to manage our workflow. We used to use ProductBoard - but I didn't think the integration was all that useful. It would be awesome to integrate with those two.
2. Keep improving the summary/AI. They tend to be a little off and not super useful (yet). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Being able to search all recording transcripts is absolutely the most valuable feature of Grain! You never have to hunt for feedback, or even worry about synthesizing your research--the AI summaries do that work for you. Knowing how much you have spoken in an interview is also great, it helps me as an interviewer think more critically about how I ask questions in interviews. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am a big fan of Grain, so there are no major dislikes from my end. My last post spoke to a problem that is now solved. They are incredibly responsive to feedback, which, as a user researcher, is something I also love. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
integrates seemlessly with zoom and google meets, can have different privacy settings per recording, can create highlights and grain summarizes the clip for me. Transcribes the whole meeting. I love the new update where AI summarizes the video and creates it's own highlights. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't dislike anything about grain. The only idea I have on how it could be better is if once creating a highlight from a recording, grain integrated with a task management tool and created the action item/task for us.
Also, sometimes grain gets "buggy" when I try to edit the copy/transcript. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ability to upload and transcribe Zoom calls is really useful. So even if I didn't initiate or own the call, I can still get the benefit of using Grain to summarize what happened. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Using it on a mobile device is difficult. I can't see the whole screen or navigate it easily. I tend to transfer work from my laptop to iPad to phone, and it would help if I could use Grain across those devices easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Grain makes it incredibly easy to make valuable snippets of interviews to share with the wider team. I love how fast it is and that I don't have to download a video to share it. The ability to share via a link directly to my colleagues is a major time saver. It's so easy and intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's hard to have a downside about Grain as I think the software is great. The only thing that could make it better is if I was able to conduct entire research processes in it. I'm excited to see where Grain develops and if it becomes a tool that can handle all aspects of user research. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
