Fort Indiantown Gap Visitor Information
As of Nov. 1, 2023, Fort Indiantown Gap is a controlled-access installation. Only authorized personnel and approved visitors, contractors and delivery drivers are permitted to access the installation.
Visitors can obtain a background check and a pass from the Visitor Center, which is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., except federal holidays.
After hours, weekends and federal holidays, visitors should call the Fort Indiantown Gap police department at 717-861-2727. Processing times may be delayed on weekends and after hours.
Per Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12, Army Directive 05-2014 and Fort Indiantown Gap Regulation 190-13, all visitors and un-cleared contractors desiring unescorted access to Fort Indiantown Gap must be vetted through the National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index (NCIC-III). NCIC-III is the Army's baseline background check for entrance onto Army installations for those who do not have a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC), military ID or pre-screened compliant ID.
Personnel with a CAC, military ID, military dependent ID, pre-screened compliant ID or a pass issued from Fort Indiantown Gap should proceed to the gates.
Passengers under 18 do not need to be vetted or have ID as long as they are with someone with a compliant ID or visitor’s pass.
Information on the gate construction project can be found here.
