Fort Indiantown Gap has a variety of firing ranges from small arms to air-to-ground bombing.
Crew Served Weapons
FTIG has two main multi-purpose machine gun ranges. Both ranges allow for the qualification of M249, M240, .50cal, and MK19 weapon systems from a dismounted or mounted platform. The ranges can also be utilized for sniper training with the M107 Heavy sniper weapon system (HSWS). The target array includes stationary armored targets and fully automated targets that are computer driven and scored from the range tower.

Hand Grenades/Grenade Launcher
FTIG offers a variety of ranges to support 40mm grenade launcher qualification with TPT ammunition and 40mm grenade launcher familiarization with HE ammunition in day, night, and CBRN environments. FTIG also offers a range to conduct hand grenade familiarization, qualification, the throwing of live fragmentation grenades, and the employment of claymore mines.

Explosives/Demolition Sites
FTIG offers a variety of demolition training at three main demolition-training sites. Training opportunities include ballistic and explosive breaching, concrete and steel cutting, cratering and shape charges, live Bangalore, and inert MICLIC training. The maximum charge on the installation is 100 pounds NEW.

Anti-Tank Weapons Systems
Fort Indiantown Gap supports familiarization fire of the following weapon systems on the following ranges: AT4, LAW, SMAW, on Range 23C, Inert TOW on Range 24B, and the Javelin on Range 38. Tables available vary based on weapon system.

Indirect Fire
The installation supports live artillery and mortar fire in the range corridor, including the Paladin weapons system. The FO Bunker allows units to observe and call in indirect fire at danger-close ranges. Multiple firing and observation points are available.

Aerial Gunnery
FTIG has two aerial gunnery ranges (AGRs) for rotary Air Craft. RG 23 Door provides hover front-oriented firing of 20mm, 30mm and 2.75 Inert Rockets. RG 24A provides 7.62 door gunnery to table VI standards.

Close Air Support
Requests for use of the Air-to-Ground Range for Close Air Support (CAS), Joint Air Attack (JAAT), Combined Arms Exercises, and laser operations will be scheduled through the 193 SOW, Det 1 scheduler.

Mounted Gunnery Ranges
Range 27 and Range 6 are LB-MPGR’s designed for device-based gunnery tables to include Tables I, II, III, VII, X, and XI. These ranges are used to train and test soldiers on the skills necessary to identify, engage, and defeat targets for day and night qualification requirements with the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) and Laser Target Interface Devices (LTIDs).

Individual Weapons Qualification and Familiarization Firing
FTIG has multiple ranges to support individual weapons qualification, zeroing, and familiarization. Pistol qualification, M4/M249 zeroing and qualification, shotgun familiarization and qualification, short range marksmanship training, known distance firing, and military police qualification are some of the capabilities FTIG offers. The installation is constantly striving to add “like” training capabilities to ranges as ammunitions and conditions allow.
