The Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) yesterday commended the Government for its prompt response in establishing a working group to assess the economic impact of the reciprocal tariff imposed by the US.
As the apex body representing both large and small players in the textile and apparel industry, the JAAF fully supports this initiative and is honoured to contribute to the discussions.
The committee, which includes key industry stakeholders, is currently formulating a strategic plan to mitigate potential disruptions. This plan was yesterday presented to President Anura Kumara Disanayake. Given the urgency of the situation, swift and decisive action is critical to safeguard Sri Lanka’s apparel sector and broader economic stability.
The JAAF is confident that, with the leadership and support of the President, timely decisions will be made to address this challenge and ensure the continued resilience of the industry.
