GNU is the project that started it all. Started in 1984 with the goal of creating a free software operating system, GNU has evolved into a collection of tools and applications that are used by millions of computer users around the world. Now, most commonly used with the kernel Linux to create the GNU/Linux operating system, GNU is constantly growing.
Thanks to the contributions of thousands of volunteers from around the world, GNU is a modern and extremely powerful system enjoyed the world over by technology enthusiasts.
