In Islam, the main objective of life is not just earning money but as a vicegerent of Allah, the main objective of life is to implement and practice the system and commandments of Allah in the world.

As the vicegerent (Khalifa) of Allah swt, man is entrusted (amanah) to care for his creation, including caring for the environment.

Thus, the fundamental concept of God's vicegerent forms the core of Islamic faith.

(83) This vicegerent of God on earth, in whose being all the divine attributes are manifested in an all-encompassing way, is appointed by God to look after the world (nazar fi l-'Alam).

Man is also His creation and He (Allah the creator) has appointed him (man) as His vicegerent on the earth.

(5) The human is assigned as a vicegerent on Earth.

His vicegerent (Khalifa) was a man of little political wisdom and a humble statesmanship capability, and historians recorded no clear difference between this regime and the Turkish counterpart.

The Quran also describes a human being as 'khalifa', which means 'a vicegerent of God on earth', quite similar to the role of stewardship as mentioned in the Bible.

From an Islamic perspective, CSR circles on the concept of ultimate accountability to Allah where human beings are stared as 'khalifah' (vicegerent on earth) and are expectable to relate with additional humans to take care of the natural environment entrusted to them (e.g., Hassan and Harahap, 2010; Maali et al., 2006; Haniffa and Hudaib, 2007; Aribi and Gao, 2010; Farook et al., 2011).

Since human beings are the "vicegerent of God on earth" (Qur'an 2:30; 35:59), they are honored with a certain amount of free will which they may use for better or worse.

Allah tells of His decision to delegate Man as a vicegerent on earth as the main purpose of Man's presence on earth.

He said that according to the Holy Prophet's teachings, man is the vicegerent of Allah Almighty on the earth however, the colonial powers were using the Muslims as a tool.

According to Sufism, the nearness of obligatory works, through which the perfect human achieves the station of sainthood and becomes vicegerent of Allah, is greater than the nearness of supererogatory works.
