The smooth dogfish, Mustelus canis, is a small shark species found throughout the western Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts to Florida, and in the northern Gulf of Mexico, including Cuba, Jamaica, Barbados, Bermuda, Bahamas, and southern Brazil to northern Argentina.
