A fatwa was sought by Mohammad Fazal from Muzzafarnagar asking whether using
nail polish and keeping long nails by men and women is allowed in Islam.
In a statement, the civic body announced: "Dubai Municipality denies the rumour of triphenyl phosphate danger in
nail polish. The substance has not been banned, or restricted worldwide, specifically in personal care products.
Triphenyl phosphate (TPHP) is primarily used in many products such as furniture, plastic curtains, bathrooms, plastic toys and is listed as an ingredient in
nail polishes.
Researchers also tested 10
nail polishes and found levels of THPH present in eight of them.
So to make nails stay pretty but shiny and durable, go for a gel-like formula of
nail polish that doesn't require a UV lamp and tedious polish removal but stays shiny and strong.
She said: "Poor Vimto had a long night - we were juggling between saving her little life, keeping her warm, fed, ventilated and attempting to remove what we believe may be
nail polish.
