KARACHI -- The Supreme Court (SC) reserved on Friday the verdict on pleas, filed by students, Halim Khan and Saddam Hussain, pertaining to admissions in Shaheed Benazir Medical College (SBMC) Lyari, allegedly on the basis of fake
domiciles. A two-member bench comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah heard the case at the SC Karachi Registry.
It also said Cayetano's
domicile was not affected with his marriage to his wife, Lani Cayetano.
"In view of the foregoing, Respondent not having abandoned his
domicile in Barangay Bagumbayan, correctly declared that his residence is such address and no material misrepresentation that is false can be imputed for such action nor his act of declaring himself eligible for the office sought to be elected to as his
domicile remains to be in Barangay Bagumbayan in the First District of Taguig-Pateros," it further read.

It is to me mentioned that local certificate - issued by the deputy commissioner office - is an important document, which certifies that the holder is a permanent resident of the respective district and it is used to avail provincial and federal level jobs, medical and engineering seats on Balochistan's quota and scholarship opportunities for the students, while a
domicile certificate is also issued to permanent residents, but those who have migrated to the district from other areas.
Domicile is not about where you live and work but about where you consider to be home.
