Biology is a natural science concerned with the study of life and living organisms.

The term biology is derived from the Greek word βίος, bios, "LIFE" and the suffix -λογία, -logia, "STUDY OF ." It appears in German (as Biologie) as early as 1791.

Ecology studies the distribution and abundance of living organisms, and the interactions between organisms and their environment.

Ecology is the science that examines the forces that structure the central part of the universe in which we live. Therefore ecology is the central scientific discipline of the 21st century!

Btw, a central organizing concept in biology is that life changes and develops through evolution, and that all life-forms known have a common origin!
