"What if you had sex with a wolf?" Cineverse + Fathom Events are hosting a one-night-only special event screening of this indie horror film on September 21st – this week. Shaky Shivers is the feature directorial debut of Korean-American actor Sung Kang – best known for playing Han in the Fast & Furious movies (with a recent appearance in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi series). Two young women find themselves at an abandoned camp in the woods with a book of magical spells surrounded by classic monsters in this comedic send up of 1980s horror films. It's another new werewolf film to enjoy this spooky season, paying homage to the many horror classics from the 80s. Starring Brooke Markham, VyVy Nguyen, Jimmy Bellinger, Herschel Sparber, Skyler Day, & Erin Daniels. Looks like an amusing buddy comedy mashed up with every funky 80s horror idea they could think of. Might be fun? Or might be dumb. Gotta watch and find out.
Here's the full official trailer (+ two posters) for Sung Kang's Shaky Shivers, direct from YouTube:
After finding herself bitten by a mysterious animal, Lucy becomes convinced that she will transform into a fearsome werewolf. Joined by her best friend Karen, the two embark on a wild adventure filled with magic and mayhem, as they look to do battle with a throat-slashing creature ripped right out of an 80s horror movie. Shaky Shivers is directed by the Korean-American actor turned filmmaker Sung Kang, making his feature directorial debut with this project; it's his very first film as a director. The screenplay is written by Andrew McAllister and Aaron Strongoni. It's produced by Luci Y. Kim, Jean Shim, and Brian Yang. This initially premiered at the 2022 Screamfest Horror Film Festival last year, and it also won Best US Narrative Film at the 2023 Gasparilla Film Festival. Cineverse + Fathom will debut Kang's Shaky Shivers in theaters nationwide on September 21st, 2023 for one night, before it's available on VOD. Anyone want to watch?
