Description

This back to school season, we're bringing back some of our favorite Womanica episodes you might have missed. Today's Womanican is Marguerite Duras (1914-1996). She was a pioneer of autofiction and one of the most widely-read French writers in the postwar era. She specialized in blurring the lines between autobiography and imagination, mining her myriad of hardships for narrative gold. Her novel “The Lover” reflected her experiences growing up in French Indochina and became an international bestseller.  For Further Reading: Marguerite Duras, 81, Author Who Explored Love and Sex - The New York Times  “A Man and a Woman, Say What You Like, They’re Different”: On Marguerite Duras | The New Yorker ‘ The Life and Loves of Marguerite Duras - The New York Times Marguerite Duras’s ‘The Lover,’ and Notebooks That Enrich It - The New York Times   This month, we’re heading back to school – and we’re taking you along with us! These diverse women from across space and time are grouped into easily accessible and engaging monthly themes like Educators, Villains, Indigenous Storytellers, Activists, and many more.
