Description
Probably the most unique celebration in America took place in 1884 in Dodge City Kansas. The chief feature of the first day was the Spanish bullfight, the first-ever held on American soil. Hundreds of visitors came from the East to witness the fight, and the town was crowded with sightseers from all over the West. The scene at the fairgrounds was a strange one for the United States. This podcast produced by Mike King and narrated by Brad Smalley tells the story of the men and women who were crowded about the stands and amphitheater drinking and smoking together and enjoying the sports. The events were most sensational and will long be remembered in this country. On July 4, 1884, Dodge City excelled in all her past notorieties.
