The Day Before Christmas

Violets are Blue,
This is my kingdom,

Nina practiced her poem, which she will present at the Winter Ball.
No, Honey!
her mother said. Do it with more feeling.
As Queen Juliet kept talking about her poem, Nina thought about tomorrow. It's almost Christmas, Then I will be free!
she wondered.
Nina recently turned thirteen and is almost a black belt in her karate class. Her mother is finally letting her do fun things, like swimming in the ocean, hanging out with her new karate friends, and running around the town during sunrise and sunset.
Yesterday, she went to a fair and ate yummy snacks like potato fries and fried ice cream! Later, she had to visit the dentist's office for the first time and she didn’t like it at all.
Soon, it was evening, and as soon as her mother went to bed, Nina
