A Última Carta
Era uma manhã ensolarada quando Clara decidiu organizar o sótão de sua casa. O cheiro de mofo e poeira era forte, mas ela estava determinada a limpar o espaço, que havia sido esquecido por anos. Enquanto vasculhava as caixas empoeiradas, Clara encontrou uma caixa antiga, feita de madeira escura. O fecho estava enferrujado, mas com um pouco de esforço, conseguiu abri-la.
Dentro, havia uma pilha de cartas amareladas, todas escritas em uma caligrafia que ela reconheceu instantaneamente como a de sua mãe, Maria. O coração de Clara disparou ao ver aquelas cartas, que ela nunca soubera que existiam. Era como se um pedaço do passado estivesse ali, esperando por ela.
Enquanto sentava-se no chão do sótão, com a luz do sol filtrando através das janelas, Clara começou a ler a primeira carta. O conteúdo a surpreendeu. It was a sunny morning when Clara decided to clean out her attic. The smell of mildew and dust was strong, but she was determined to tidy up the space that had been forgotten for years.
