About this ebook
The Eve of Destruction: The Systematic Destruction of America and its Values Tender Topics was written to provoke thought about the devastating damage occurring in our country and world. I want your blood to boil as you digest each and every word. In other words, these are controversial topics meant to get you all worked up! I hope it even makes you angry. If it does, that means you are thinking and perhaps coming up with solutions. I need to acknowledge Barry Maguire whose 1960s song "The Eve of Destruction" was the inspiration for the title of this book! This book was written to elicit feelings, emotions, and responses in you, my readers, that you might not particularly like. I want you to understand that it is okay to have mixed feelings. I had to deal with the same emotions as you when I was writing this book. None of us are immune to hatred, violence, bullying, and so many other things. We do have the ability to control and fix much of this if we just have the intestinal fortitude to confront these issues.
It is an ugly country and world we live in right now. All of us don't want to acknowledge it because it shows us for what we really are. The Eve of Destruction is a great title because all of us at different times see the worldwide decline in the sanctity of life. Yet we don't seem to want to do anything to stop it. We all show our prejudices toward each other at one time or another! I guess that is human nature. It is my sincere hope that the words in this book change the mindset we have.
We must take every step we can to rid ourselves of our biases. It just takes a little courage to accomplish it. If you believe that we can all be better human beings, then we are on the right path.
We, all of us, need to stamp out hate, violence, and bullying once and for all. Our entire society demands it. It is wreaking havoc on every level of humanity! Humanity, now there is a word that we have lost sight of. It is time that we turn the page and get back to kindness, respect, love, and peace. Our children and grandchildren deserve nothing less!
From the words of Patrick Kohlmann... Kindness is contagious... RIP Patrick...

Preface
It is my sincere hope that my second book of scenarios using tender topics
will give each of you food for thought on the direction—or lack thereof—we are taking. This book is entitled The Eve of Destruction, the systematic destruction of America and its values. The thought for this title came from a 1960s song bearing the same title. The lyrics of that song by Barry McGuire accurately depict the chaotic country and world we are now living in. Many of the stories depicted in this book are factual and deal with topics that affect so many of us on a daily basis. However, it is easier to turn a blind eye and ignore it than confront it up front. Read each scenario carefully and put yourself in it. That way, you can judge them on their merits. This book is entirely different from my first book, The Bully Pen, but it still makes you consider options on what is right or wrong. I truly believe that you will find this book immensely thought-provoking. At least, that was my intention when writing it. It took me a while to write this book, and it was painful in many instances. With the help of God, it will reach the hands of many of you so that, perhaps, we can change our attitudes before it is too late.
This book is dedicated to my family and friends who have supported me and my efforts to make us better people and a better world. As I wrote this book, I took great pains in presenting you with the worst and the best of our country and our world. I grew up in a different era where things were much simpler, and people interacted with each other on a personal level rather than texting on a phone or using a computer. How I wish that our children of today would put down these machines of communication and just play together and talk together face to face. Perhaps the divide and damage that have been created by the media and social media could be minimized. It is my desire to see all of our children flourish and become better and kinder human beings. The scenarios in this book are relevant to the day-to-day challenges and activities we all face and deal with. We have so much controversy and hatred for one another that it blows my mind. I feel that the divide we have in this country has been caused by a flawed educational system that has forgotten how to teach and instead indoctrinates. There is a lot of darkness portrayed in these pages but also the possibilities for a brighter future.
To my life partner, Jan, your love and caring have meant the world to me. You are my rock in life, and I love you from the depths of my soul for it. To my daughters, Kelly and Tara, and their husbands, Stephen and Bobby, I ask you to continue to raise your children as independent thinkers and not just followers. To my grandchildren, Regan, McKenna, Connor, and Avery, continue on your journey to greatness. Wonderful things await each of you if you just believe in yourselves. To my sister, Marilyn, thank you for being my sounding board when I have felt down and not quite up to par. Last but not least, thanks to all of you for supporting me on my journalistic path. God bless all of you, and by all means, God bless America.
Scenario 1
Queer
This is a topic that has an entire country divided. This is a fictional account of what could be happening in many communities around the country. As in my previous book, the conclusions you make are strictly yours. I am only presenting you with scenarios that we are all encountering. So let's get started with scenario 1.
Hello, everyone, my name is Charles or, as most people call me, Charlie. I am fourteen years old, and by birth, I am a male. You can tell because I was born with a penis. At an early age, I knew that I was different than other boys. I liked playing with dolls, I enjoyed putting on girls' clothes, and I enjoyed being around girls more than boys. I seemed to act more feminine, and that's where my bullying started! I have just graduated from middle school and am now a freshman in high school. I am large in body mass which makes my situation worse. I looked like a boy in every way and was built like one, but felt like a girl. I was getting called faggot, queer, gay boy, and many other things! I am very quiet and don't bother anyone. However,
