    Naomi Winters stepped off the bus and into the crisp evening air of Aurora. The small town’s streets were quiet and bathed in the soft glow of streetlights. The town was a far cry from the glitz and chaos of Los Angeles, a sanctuary she hoped would offer the anonymity she desperately needed. Her past, filled with flashing cameras and leering eyes, seemed like a distant nightmare as she pulled her coat tighter around her.

    The bus rumbled away, leaving Naomi alone on the sidewalk. She took a deep breath, the air smelling faintly of pine and damp earth. It was a welcome change from the smog that perpetually hung over LA. A shiver ran down her spine, partly from the cold and partly from the strange sense of displacement.
