INTRODUCTION
Real Time with Bill Maher began in 2003, and the show's ending was not right due to the lack of a clear ending. The host decided to end the show with a straight-to-camera commentary on something people wanted to hear. This was done in the second half of 2003, and the editorial is a ten-minute thought piece with laughs. The show aims to be about ideas, breaking new ways of looking at stories and introducing novel ways of thinking.
The twenty-first century in America has been a political nightmare due to partisan hate. The two sides have become factions that only want to hear the bits that allow them to feel superior to the deplorable people on the other side. People often want to make those offering countering views disappear, either actively or passively. The show and book are for those with an open mind and those who recognize that there is ample crazy on both sides.
The danger is not equal, as the Republican party has become more religious, scal hypocritical, denial about racism, and environmentally alarmed. They also embrace Donald Trump and the idea that a right-wing coup is a legitimate response to losing a presidential election. They believe what the Left is doing is fundamentally wrong for the country and are willing to jettison the essence of the country—democracy—to save it.
In conclusion, Real Time with Bill Maher is a show that aims to break new ways of thinking and introduce novel ways of thinking. The show is not for those who want to be dominated by one party, but for those who recognize the potential dangers of polarization and partisan hatred.
The author argues that the Left has not changed much in recent years, but rather is undoing traditional liberalism. They argue that the Right may be upending norms of politics and government, but the Left has not. They highlight examples such as Black-only dorms and graduation ceremonies at colleges, which contradict the spirit of diversity that was once considered important.
The author also points out that being in tightly sealed information bubbles can make it difficult to understand what the Left is doing. They highlight the changes in higher education, the rise of administrators at colleges, and the blatant racialization of ideas. They also discuss the rise of YouTube stars like MrBeast, who have staged charitable stunts and criticized the Los Angeles Times for allowing homeless tents near schools.
The author also criticizes the Atlantic for separating sports by sex and promoting the idea that boys are inherently bigger, faster, and stronger than girls. They argue that these issues are madness and that the Left should stop pretending the reality-challenged are meaningless. They also mention that the author's book, The Red Pill,
was inspired by their own editorials from 2003 to 2023.
In the first decade of the show, the amount of space given to bashing Republicans and their wrongdoings greatly exceeded the critiques of the Left. The author acknowledges that the Left wasn't doing anything particularly nutty or obnoxious, but they were tough on comedians, especially those trying to find humor in Nancy Pelosi and Sarah Palin.
The author discusses the changing attitudes and traits of the American political landscape during the Bush-Obama era. They argue that while the younger generation may not backlash against certain issues, they have brought oversensitivity, victim culture, and nonsense that is not an extension of liberalism. The author believes that when historians look back on this period in American history, they will see the same pathologies and unappealing traits on both sides, manifesting differently.
For example, future historians may characterize twenty-first-century Americans as anti-science, denial about ecological collapse from the Right, and censoring the idea that Covid could have originated in a lab because it is racist.
Both sides are smug, and history shows that when a nation reaches an apex, there seems to be no way of preventing one deleterious side effect: people act like spoiled, entitled assholes who forget what real hardship is and obsess about bullshit.
The author acknowledges that being liberal is what a nation should aspire to, just as a person should aspire to. They have always tried to look at every issue, candidate, and election dispassionately, believing that every Democrat for president was more sane, compassionate, and practical than the Republican. They still believe Al Gore and John Kerry would have been better than George W. Bush, Obama, Hillary, and Biden than Trump.
However, the author acknowledges that the Democrats are a nuttier mess than they have ever been before, and they face challenges in implementing the crazy stu
doctrine in an age where the other side is even more dangerous. They express gratitude for the loyalty of their audience and the mutual trust built on love of honesty.

Congress is a job that can be done from jail or deranged, with only a smile and a ag pin required. It offers a remarkable life with no qualifications or skills, making it a more desirable position than other jobs. The title, office, sta, attention, and good table at the restaurant make it a great job, and once elected, it is yours for life. The reelection rate in the House for incumbents in 2022 was 95 percent, better job security than a pedophile priest has.
However, there are some downsides to being a Congressperson. There is no year-end performance review, no boss, and no boss. If your district is full of people who think the election was rigged, vaccines have microchips, or men can have babies, you have to agree and repeat it in Congress. Nancy Mace, the first woman to graduate from the Citadel, stood up to her party, giving a dozen interviews in a single day condemning Trump, but soon after, she wouldn't even talk about it. She voted to oust Liz Cheney for making the exact same case she herself had made.
In conclusion, Congress is a remarkable job that offers a remarkable life with no qualifications or skills. It is a job that can be done without any boss or year-end performance review.
George Santos, a Republican House member from Long Island, has been accused of lying about his life, including attending Horace Mann prep school and claiming to be an MBA. He also falsely claimed to have run an animal charity that neutered three thousand stray cats. Santos's lies appeal to far-right Republicans, such as being all in on Trump's election denying or making the white power sign in Congress. However, his district is not a Republican district, and he got elected in a Democrat-leaning district by telling them what they wanted to hear.
Liberals love identity politics and victimhood, so Santos claimed he had a brain tumor, was one of the first New Yorkers hospitalized for Covid, and lost four coworkers in the Pulse nightclub shooting in 2016. He claims to be Jewish and that his grandparents emigrated to Ukraine to escape the Nazis. His immigration policy is We must stop people like me from getting into this country.
Santos's lies have led to a shift in American politics, with people tuning out anything that doesn't already fit their narrative. Republicans love a winner, while Democrats love someone whose life story makes you want to kill yourself. The current age of America suffers from a disease of the mind, where everything proves what we already believed and everything goes back to the thing we already hate.
Republicans blamed Putin's invasion of Ukraine on Biden being the worst president ever, while Democrats blamed it on Trump being the worst president ever. However, it is important to remember that racism is not the only factor in American issues, and other things are bad too.
Pat Robertson, who predicted the end of the world in
